The USS New Orleans Reunion
« on: March 06, 2007, 10:30:38 AM »
The USS New Orleans is being commissioned at Woldenberg Riverfront Park on March 10th

Built at Avondale shipyards, the amphibious transport dock, which holds up to 800 Marines, will be berthed at Woldenberg from March 5th thru March 12th before sailing off to its homeport of San Diego. According to Navy League historians, this is the first time a ship is being commissioned in the city in which it was both built in and named for.

WWLTV.com reports that it will be open for *FREE* public tours all this week, March 6th thru 9th, from 11am-4pm.
