“Who Is Responsible for the World Food Shortage?”

by Joseph Brewda ~ Dec. 8, 1995 ~ source

This article appeared as part of a feature in the December 8, 1995 issue of Executive Intelligence Review,
and was circulate extensively by the Schiller Institute Food for Peace Movement.

On Dec. 10, 1974, the U.S. National Security Council under Henry Kissinger completed a classified 200-page study, “National Security Study Memorandum 200: Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for U.S. Security and Overseas Interests.” The study falsely claimed that population growth in the so-called Lesser Developed Countries (LDCs) was a grave threat to U.S. national security. Adopted as official policy in November 1975 by President Gerald Ford, NSSM 200 outlined a covert plan to reduce population growth in those countries through birth control, and also, implicitly, war and famine. Brent Scowcroft, who had by then replaced Kissinger as national security adviser (the same post Scowcroft was to hold in the Bush administration), was put in charge of implementing the plan. CIA Director George Bush was ordered to assist Scowcroft, as were the secretaries of state, treasury, defense, and agriculture.

The bogus arguments that Kissinger advanced were not original. One of his major sources was the Royal Commission on Population, which King George VI had created in 1944 “to consider what measures should be taken in the national interest to influence the future trend of population.” The commission found that Britain was gravely threatened by population growth in its colonies, since “a populous country has decided advantages over a sparsely-populated one for industrial production.” The combined effects of increasing population and industrialization in its colonies, it warned, “might be decisive in its effects on the prestige and influence of the West,” especially effecting “military strength and security.”

NSSM 200 similarly concluded that the United States was threatened by population growth in the former colonial sector. It paid special attention to 13 “key countries” in which the United States had a “special political and strategic interest”: India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Turkey, Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia. It claimed that population growth in those states was especially worrisome, since it would quickly increase their relative political, economic, and military strength.

For example, Nigeria: “Already the most populous country on the continent, with an estimated 55 million people in 1970, Nigeria's population by the end of this century is projected to number 135 million. This suggests a growing political and strategic role for Nigeria, at least in Africa.” Or Brazil: “Brazil clearly dominated the continent demographically.” The study warned of a “growing power status for Brazil in Latin America and on the world scene over the next 25 years.”

Food as a weapon

There were several measures that Kissinger advocated to deal with this alleged threat, most prominently, birth control and related population-reduction programs. He also warned that “population growth rates are likely to increase appreciably before they begin to decline,” even if such measures were adopted.

A second measure was curtailing food supplies to targetted states, in part to force compliance with birth control policies: “There is also some established precedent for taking account of family planning performance in appraisal of assistance requirements by AID [U.S. Agency for International Development] and consultative groups. Since population growth is a major determinant of increases in food demand, allocation of scarce PL 480 resources should take account of what steps a country is taking in population control as well as food production. In these sensitive relations, however, it is important in style as well as substance to avoid the appearance of coercion.”

“Mandatory programs may be needed and we should be considering these possibilities now,” the document continued, adding, “Would food be considered an instrument of national power? ... Is the U.S. prepared to accept food rationing to help people who can't/won't control their population growth?”

Kissinger also predicted a return of famines that could make exclusive reliance on birth control programs unnecessary. “Rapid population growth and lagging food production in developing countries, together with the sharp deterioration in the global food situation in 1972 and 1973, have raised serious concerns about the ability of the world to feed itself adequately over the next quarter of century and beyond,” he reported.

The cause of that coming food deficit was not natural, however, but was a result of western financial policy: “Capital investments for irrigation and infrastucture and the organization requirements for continuous improvements in agricultural yields may be beyond the financial and administrative capacity of many LDCs. For some of the areas under heaviest population pressure, there is little or no prospect for foreign exchange earnings to cover constantly increasingly imports of food.”

“It is questionable,” Kissinger gloated, “whether aid donor countries will be prepared to provide the sort of massive food aid called for by the import projections on a long-term continuing basis.” Consequently, “large-scale famine of a kind not experienced for several decades—a kind the world thought had been permanently banished,” was foreseeable—famine, which has indeed come to pass.

                     NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL
                     WASHINGTON, D.C. 20506

                     National Security Study Memorandum 200
                     April 24, 1974

                     -----------------------------------------------

TO:    The Secretary of Defense
         The Secretary of Agriculture
         The Director of Central Intelligence
         The Deputy Secretary of State
         Administrator, Agency for International Development

SUBJECT: Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for U.S.
         Security and Overseas Interests

The President has directed a study of the impact of world population
growth on U.S. security and overseas interests.  The study should look
forward at least until the year 2000, and use several alternative
reasonable projections of population growth.

In terms of each projection, the study should assess:

  - the corresponding pace of development, especially in poorer
    countries;

  - the demand for US exports, especially of food, and the trade
problems the US may face arising from competition for re-
    sources;  and

  - the likelihood that population growth or imbalances will
produce disruptive foreign policies and international
    instability.

The study should focus on the international political and economic
implications of population growth rather than its ecological, socio-
logical or other aspects.

The study would then offer possible courses of action for the United
States in dealing with population matters abroad, particularly in
developing countries, with special attention to these questions:

  - What, if any, new initiatives by the United States are needed
to focus international attention on the population problem?

  - Can technological innovations or development reduce
    growth or ameliorate its effects?

  - Could the United States improve its assistance in the population
field and if so, in what form and through which agencies --
    bilateral, multilateral, private?

The study should take into account the President's concern that
population policy is a human concern intimately related to the
dignity of the individual and the objective of the United States is to
work closely with others, rather than seek to impose our views on
others.

The President has directed that the study be accomplished by the
NSC Under Secretaries Committee.  The Chairman, Under Secretaries
Committee, is requested to forward the study together with the
Committee's action recommendations no later than May 29, 1974 for
consideration by the President.

                                        HENRY A. KISSINGER

Seed Shortages in U.S. Threaten Spring Planting

A cornfield along the Yazoo River in Mississippi, May 16, 2011.

by Marcia Merry Baker ~ January 2012

This article appears in the January 13, 2012 issue of Executive Intelligence Review and is reprinted with permission.

January 9—Shortages of seed for U.S. Spring planting of corn and sorghum (milo) are a big concern now among farmers and state agriculture extension services in the Grain Belt. There are supplies of corn seeds in general, but there are only limited quantities of certain varieties-of-choice, instead of ample quantities of the full range of seeds, which should be available for the farmer to maximize output in his specific conditions. Farmers who can afford it, have rushed to line up orders in advance, hoping they will be fulfilled.

The majority of seed is supplied by a tight cartel of Monsanto, DuPont (Pioneer Hi-Bred brand), BayerCropScience, BASF, Syngenta, and very few others, whose monopolistic policies act in opposition to a policy of reserves and redundancy of supplies.

The majority of seed is supplied by a tight cartel of Monsanto, DuPont (Pioneer Hi-Bred brand), BayerCropScience, BASF, Syngenta, and very few others, whose monopolistic policies act in opposition to a policy of reserves and redundancy of supplies.

Lyndon LaRouche’s PAC demands cancelling the laws allowing these practices, such as the WTO treaty; and getting Obama out of the Presidency, for presiding over this violation of national interest and other glaring unconstitutional acts.

The Jan. 5 Wall Street Journal coverage gloated, “Corn Seed Shortage Sows Farm Belt Woes,” playing up the opportunity ahead for speculation on corn futures, with a graph of rising prices on the Chicago Board of Trade: “Kernels of a Rally.” It put out the estimate that 2011 U.S. seed corn production was down 25-50% from 2010.

By day’s end on Jan. 5, the Obama Administration and seed cartel supplier spokesmen had rushed to deny any problems:

U.S. Department of Agriculture Chief Economist Joseph Glauber told Reuters, “While some varieties may not be available, we have no evidence to suggest that planted acres will be constrained by a shortage of seed.”
Hugh Grant, CEO of Monsanto, the world’s largest seed company, said on a conference call Jan. 5, in effect: Trust us, we will supply enough seed.

As for the big increase in farmers placing advance orders for seed, Grant put down any implication of worries over supply problems: “We don’t see this as panic buying as much as a recognition of the yield increment that we are delivering and farmers rewarding us for that with early commitments.” He slyly noted that some small, local U.S. seed companies will not be able to fulfill their customers’ seed corn orders this year, and may go under, because they can’t bring in seed from South America (as Monsanto can).

In fact, in Argentina, drought is threatening to lower the corn crop, including production of seed corn for U.S. use. Worldwide, corn supplies are jeopardized by crop problems in the United States and Argentina—the first and second biggest national sources for corn exports.

Any diminution of the corn crop has an intensified effect on the food supply, because close to 40% of the U.S. crop is now going for biofuel. In 2011, for the first time ever, the amount of U.S. corn harvest going to ethanol exceeded that going for livestock feed.

U.S. sorghum seeds are also short. For example, “For Milo Growers, New Year Brings Seed Shortage,” was the headline on Jan. 1 in the news service www.agjournalonline.com.

German ban on MON810 maize: will the courts now decide?

Following the ban on cultivating MON810 Bt maize in Germany, Monsanto is considering taking legal action. At the moment, it is not known how long the ban will be in force.

"As soon as we have received the decision, we will examine the arguments. Then we can start taking legal action," a spokesman for Monsanto told the dpa news agency. The aim is to make it possible for farmers who have already bought MON810 seed to plant it this year. "We think the chances are very high that this temporary ban will be rescinded," said Monsanto.

German agriculture minister Ilse Aigner defended her ban as being based on "expert opinion". There were reasonable grounds to believe that "MON810 maize presents a danger to the environment". She referred, among other things, to studies upon which Luxemburg had based its recently enacted ban on cultivation. Possible impacts of MON810 maize on certain ladybugs and butterflies had been examined. The studies had previously been dismissed by scientists as being insufficient. In some cases only lab tests with Bt protein, the active agent in MON810, had been carried out. The insects concerned had been fed Bt protein in amounts that were far higher than what would have been encountered under natural conditions.

Other EU countries had already tried to base their cultivation bans on some of the studies which Aigner had used for her decision. Time and again some American study on the impact of MON810 maize on aquatic animal life, such as the caddisfly, would be cited.

Scientists from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) also dealt with these studies when reviewing national bans. None of them were scientifically sound enough to justify a ban on cultivation.

Even the German ban would hardly be able to stand up to a review by the EU Commission and EFSA. However, this process takes some time and would come all too late for this cultivation season. Also, there are not enough political majorities in the EU at the moment who can stop national cultivation bans not accepted in scientific circles. A court decision, such as the one Monsanto is considering, would be significantly faster.

The EU, moreover, must fear that the trade conflict with the USA will now become critical once again. The Dispute Settlement Body of the World Trade Organisation ruled at the beginning of 2006 that scientifically unfounded cultivation bans in individual EU Member States were to be considered illegal violations of world trade agreements. The USA has yet to impose punitive tariff duties on European goods. The new U.S. Trade Representative, Ron Kirk, criticised the EU's genetic technology policy in his latest report. He explicitly referred to national cultivation bans in France, Austria, Greece and Hungary.

We have certified organic growers here too. BUT...

Then again I think about my Heirloom seeds while watching Chemtrails, and there have been many, especially last Summer. Watch this, it is very, very interesting, but scary.

Listen to this compelling interview from insider, AC Griffith, as he disscusses the military use of the covert aerosol program we know as chemtrails. I have also added stunning new video and still captures of the most recent activity here in the Dallas area. It is time to stop being in denial about this massive program. Be fearless and spread the word or we all will all suffer the consequences of non-action.

Great images on the video yet the guy brings up weird bs about Tesla, scalar weapons that 'your puny minds can't comprehend' etc.  I'm more & more convinced about chemtrails but don't get the connection to secret advanced technology.  Seems that with all-powerful HAARP technology they wouldn't need to fool around with spraying stuff from jet planes?

Barium compounds are one of the key components of chemtrails as revealed by independent researchers using laboratory analysis.  The following toxicity summary for barium was funded by U.S. taxpayers, who are daily being poisoned with barium from chemtrails.  It is time to hold the U.S. military, President and Congress accountable for their crimes against humanity and the environment.

The toxicity information included in this summary was researched and compiled by A. A. Francis, M.S., D.A.B.T., and Carol S. Forsyth, Ph.D., who are members of the Chemical Hazard Evaluation Group in the Biomedical and Environmental Information Analysis Section, Health Sciences Research Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (continued)

The soluble salts of barium, an alkaline earth metal, are toxic in mammalian systems. They are absorbed rapidly from the gastrointestinal tract and are deposited in the muscles, lungs, and bone. Barium is excreted primarily in the feces.

At low doses, barium acts as a muscle stimulant and at higher doses affects the nervous system eventually leading to paralysis. Acute and subchronic oral doses of barium cause vomiting and diarrhea, followed by decreased heart rate and elevated blood pressure. Higher doses result in cardiac irregularities, weakness, tremors, anxiety, and dyspnea. A drop in serum potassium may account for some of the symptoms. Death can occur from cardiac and respiratory failure. Acute doses around 0.8 grams can be fatal to humans.

Subchronic and chronic oral or inhalation exposure primarily affects the cardiovascular system resulting in elevated blood pressure. A lowest-observed-adverse-effect level (LOAEL) of 0.51 mg barium/kg/day based on increased blood pressure was observed in chronic oral rat studies (Perry et al. 1983), whereas human studies identified a no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL) of 0.21 mg barium/kg/day (Wones et al. 1990, Brenniman and Levy 1984). The human data were used by the EPA to calculate a chronic and subchronic oral reference dose (RfD) of 0.07 mg/kg/day (EPA 1995a,b). In the Wones et al. study, human volunteers were given barium up to 10 mg/L in drinking water for 10 weeks. No clinically significant effects were observed. An epidemiological study was conducted by Brenniman and Levy in which human populations ingesting 2 to 10 mg/L of barium in drinking water were compared to a population ingesting 0 to 0.2 mg/L. No significant individual differences were seen; however, a significantly higher mortality rate from all combined cardiovascular diseases was observed with the higher barium level in the 65+ age group. The average barium concentration was 7.3 mg/L, which corresponds to a dose of 0.20 mg/kg/day. Confidence in the oral RfD is rated medium by the EPA.

Subchronic and chronic inhalation exposure of human populations to barium-containing dust can result in a benign pneumoconiosis called “baritosis.” This condition is often accompanied by an elevated blood pressure but does not result in a change in pulmonary function. Exposure to an air concentration of 5.2 mg barium carbonate/m3 for 4 hours/day for 6 months has been reported to result in elevated blood pressure and decreased body weight gain in rats (Tarasenko et al. 1977). Reproduction and developmental effects were also observed. Increased fetal mortality was seen after untreated females were mated with males exposed to 5.2 mg/m3 of barium carbonate. Similar results were obtained with female rats treated with 13.4 mg barium carbonate/m3. The NOAEL for developmental effects was 1.15 mg/m3 (equivalent to 0.8 mg barium/m3). An inhalation reference concentration (RfC) of 0.005 mg/m3 for subchronic and 0.0005 mg/m3 for chronic exposure was calculated by the EPA based on the NOAEL for developmental effects (EPA 1995a). These effects have not been substantiated in humans or other animal systems.

Barium has not been evaluated by the EPA for evidence of human carcinogenic potential (EPA 1995b).

"If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls who live under tyranny." -- Thomas Jefferson paraphrase from Notes on Virginia

"Polls and questionnaires show that three doctors out of four (75 per cent) would refuse any chemotherapy because of its ineffectiveness against the disease and its devastating effects on the entire human organism. This is what many doctors and scientists have to say about chemotherapy:  'The majority of the cancer patients in this country die because of chemotherapy, which does not cure breast, colon or lung cancer. This has been documented for over a decade and nevertheless doctors still utilize chemotherapy to fight these tumors.'  (Allen Levin, MD, UCSF, “The Healing of Cancer”, Marcus Books, 1990)."

White nose syndrome is spreading fast through eastern North America,
leading some scientists to warn about local extinctions.

source and many pictures

In 2006, an unknown fungus was photographed on a bat in a cave in upstate New York. In 2007, the condition was called “white nose syndrome” due to the furry white deposit seen on the nose and wings, and it killed thousands of bats. The widening circle of destruction has now reached Tennessee, North Carolina, and Canada from the Maritimes to Ontario, and it’s expected to continue expanding.

Deadly, exotic, and easily transported, the fungus, now named Geomyces destructans, has killed as many as 1 million bats in the eastern United States. The high death rate among six species of insect-eating bats in the Northeast has raised questions about their survival.

Bats are the only mammals that really fly, making them inherently cool. They fly at twilight and night, making them inherently mysterious. Add in their biodiversity — second only to rodents among the mammals — and their use of sonar to locate prey, and you have a fascinating order of animals.

For controlling agricultural insects, bats are worth at least $3 billion a year to U.S. agriculture, according to a 2011 study from Boston University. “People often ask why we should care about bats,” said study co-author Paul Cryan, a research scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey in Fort Collins, Colo. “This analysis suggests that bats are saving us big bucks by gobbling up insects that eat or damage our crops. It is obviously beneficial that insectivorous bats are patrolling the skies at night above our fields and forests—these bats deserve help.”

Lessons from Europe

G. destructans is an “emerging exotic disease,” and to investigate such diseases, scientists always want to know how the pathogen interacts with hosts in its land of origin, which seems to be Europe: In 2009, the fungus was found in a greater mouse-eared bat in France;

Gloved hand holding bat with wings stretched out, bat's mouth is open; nose covered in white fungus

Is this bat unhappy about the tufts of fungus on its muzzle — or the researcher’s big hands? During the winter of 2009-2010, infected bats were found in 76 of 98 sites in the Czech Republic; and A 2010 study3 in Europe found a white nose pathogen in 21 of 23 suspected bats that was “100% identical” to the U.S. pathogen.

Although the fungus been found in at least five bat species in Europe, die-offs have not been seen there, suggesting that something is different about how the pathogen, host and environment interact. Pathogens and hosts co-evolve through time in a complex dance: The pathogen may become milder, improving its own survival (and that of its host); hosts may evolve immune resistance; and hosts can change their behavior to reduce exposure to the disease.
