Fouchier's paper is one of two studies that have triggered an intense debate...

by MARTIN ENSERINK (SCIENCE INSIDER) ~ November 29, 2011 ~ source

... about the limits of scientific freedom and that could portend changes in the way U.S. researchers handle so-called dual-use research: studies that have a potential public health benefit but could also be useful for nefarious purposes like biowarfare or bioterrorism.

The other study—also on H5N1, and with comparable results—was done by a team led by virologist Yoshihiro Kawaoka at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and the University of Tokyo, several scientists told ScienceInsider. (Kawaoka did not respond to interview requests.)

Both studies have been submitted for publication, and both are currently under review by the U.S. National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity (NSABB), which on a few previous occasions has been asked by scientists or journals to review papers that caused worries.

NSABB chair Paul Keim, a microbial geneticist, says he cannot discuss specific studies but confirms that the board has "worked very hard and very intensely for several weeks on studies about H5N1 transmissibility in mammals." The group plans to issue a public statement soon, says Keim, and is likely to issue additional recommendations about this type of research. "We'll have a lot to say," he says.

"I can't think of another pathogenic organism that is as scary as this one," adds Keim, who has worked on anthrax for many years. "I don't think anthrax is scary at all compared to this."

Some scientists say that's reason enough not to do such research. The virus could escape from the lab, or bioterrorists or rogue nations could use the published results to fashion a bioweapon with the potential for mass destruction, they say.

"This work should never have been done," says Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute who has a strong interest in biosecurity issues.

The research by the Kawaoka and Fouchier teams set out to answer a question that has long puzzled scientists: Does H5N1, which rarely causes human disease, have the potential to trigger a pandemic?

The virus has decimated poultry flocks on three continents but has caused fewer than 600 known cases of flu in humans since it emerged in Asia in 1997, although those rare human cases are often fatal. Because the virus spreads very inefficiently between humans it has been unable to set off a chain reaction and circle the globe.

Some scientists think the virus is probably unable to trigger a pandemic, because adapting to a human host would likely make it unable to reproduce.

Some also believe the virus would need to reshuffle its genes with a human strain, a process called reassortment, that some believe is most likely to occur in pigs, which host both human and avian strains.

Based on past experience, some scientists have also argued that flu pandemics can only be caused by H1, H2, and H3 viruses, which have been replaced by each other in the human population every so many decades—but not by H5.

Fouchier says his study shows all of that to be wrong.

Although he declined to discuss details of the research because the paper is still under review, Fouchier confirmed the details given in news stories in New Scientist and Scientific American about a September meeting in Malta where he first presented the study.

Those stories describe how Fouchier initially tried to make the virus more transmissible by making specific changes to its genome, using a process called reverse genetics; when that failed, he passed the virus from one ferret to another multiple times, a low-tech and time-honored method of making a pathogen adapt to a new host.

After 10 generations, the virus had become "airborne": Healthy ferrets became infected simply by being housed in a cage next to a sick one. The airborne strain had five mutations in two genes, each of which have already been found in nature, Fouchier says; just never all at once in the same strain.

Ferrets aren't humans, but in studies to date, any influenza strain that has been able to pass among ferrets has also been transmissible among humans, and vice versa, says Fouchier: "That could be different this time, but I wouldn't bet any money on it."

The specter of an H5N1 pandemic keeps flu scientists up at night because of the virus's power to kill. Of the known cases so far, more than half were fatal.

The real case-fatality rate is probably lower because an unknown number of milder cases are never diagnosed and reported, but scientists agree that the virus is vicious. Based on Fouchier's talk in Malta, New Scientist reported that the strain created by the Rotterdam team is just as lethal to ferrets as the original one.

"These studies are very important," says biodefense and flu expert Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. The researchers "have the full support of the influenza community," Osterholm says, because there are potential benefits for public health. For instance, the results show that those downplaying the risks of an H5N1 pandemic should think again, he says.

Knowing the exact mutations that make the virus transmissible also enables scientists to look for them in the field and take more aggressive control measures when one or more show up, adds Fouchier. The study also enables researchers to test whether H5N1 vaccines and antiviral drugs would work against the new strain.

Fouchier says he consulted widely within the Netherlands before submitting his manuscript for publication. The U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), which funded the work, has agreed to the publication, says Fouchier, including officials at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. (NIH declined to answer questions for this story.) Now, Fouchier is eagerly waiting for NSABB's judgment.

Osterholm says he can't discuss details of the papers because he's an NSABB member. But he says it should be possible to omit certain key details from controversial papers and make them available to people who really need to know. "We don't want to give bad guys a road map on how to make bad bugs really bad," he says.

But some scientists say the board's debate comes far too late, because the studies have been done and the papers are written. "This is a good example of the need for a robust and independent system of PRIOR review and approval of potentially dangerous experiments," retired arms control researcher Mark Wheelis of the University of California, Davis, wrote to ScienceInsider in an e-mail. "Blocking publication may provide some small increment of safety, but it will be very modest compared to the benefits of not doing the work in the first place."

Scientists have long discussed whether to have mandatory reviews of dual-use studies before they begin, and given the global risks, some have even argued for some international risk assessment system for pandemic viruses. For instance, a proposal by four researchers from the Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland would have classified Fouchier's work as an "activity of extreme concern" that would have required international pre-approval.

But NSABB advised against such mandatory systems in 2007, and most countries don't have formal mechanisms in place to review studies before they start. (In the United States, it's "recommended" that researchers ask an institutional review board for advice if they think a study raises concerns.) Fouchier's study was greenlighted in advance by the Dutch Commission on Genetic Modification (COGEM), but that only means the panel is satisfied with safety procedures at Fouchier's lab, explains chair Bastiaan Zoeteman; it's not COGEM's job to decide whether a study is desirable. NIH didn't give the funding proposal a special review either, says Fouchier.

"The creation of a pandemic virus has been the classical example of dual-use research of concern the past decade," says Ebright. "It's remarkable that the NSABB is discussing it in 2011."

Keim agrees about the need for reviews up front. "The process of identifying dual use of concern is something that should start at the very first glimmer of an experiment," he says. "You shouldn't wait until you have submitted a paper before you decide it's dangerous. Scientists and institutions and funding agencies should be looking at this. The journals and the journals' reviewers should be the last resort."

NSABB does not have the power to prevent the publication of papers, but it could ask journals not to publish. Even Ebright, however, says he's against efforts to ban the publication of the studies now that they have been done. "You cannot post hoc suppress work that was done and completed in a nonclassified context," he says. "The scientific community would not stand for that."

There are always new swindles... You have no idea how hard it was to convince my daughter-in-law to avoid Gardasil for her daughter. I sent her literature and links, yes, in the end she listened.

Gwen Olsen the Rx Reformer – source

Gwen Olsen spent fifteen years as a sales rep in the pharmaceutical industry working for health care giants including Johnson & Johnson, Syntex Labs, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Abbott Laboratories and Forest Laboratories.

In Confessions of an Rx Drug Pusher, Gwen Olsen brings together the knowledge of an “insider” trained to sell doctors on the merits of pills; the personal experience of having taken psychiatric medications and seen how they altered her life; and the deep grief of having lost her niece—following her treatment with psychiatric medications—to suicide. This book has both an intellectual and emotional punch that readers will long remember.

Robert Whitaker,  Author of “Anatomy of an Epidemic”

Everyone is at risk for a prescription drug tragedy:

Gwen offers an insider’s knowledge of dangers from the pharmaceutical industry. Her poignant autobiographical journey through the darkness of mental illness and the catastrophic consequences that lurk in medicine cabinets around the country offers an honest glimpse into alarming statistics and a health care system ranked last among nineteen industrialized nations worldwide. As a former sales rep for Pharma, Gwen learned firsthand how an unprecedented number of lethal drugs are unleashed onto an unsuspecting public.

It is easy to disregard prescription drug deaths, medical errors, and U.S. health care crisis statistics as just numbers. However, they are not. In a well researched, impeccably documented, finely written manner Gwen Olsen has given us account of the gripping details of real people hurt by the failures of modern health care. A former pharmaceutical representative herself, the information is as credible as it is compelling. It is vital for those currently taking prescription
medication to read and understand this book.

Dr. Ben Lerner,  New York Times best selling-author of “Body by God”

As a mental health activist, Gwen has testified before the Food and Drug Administration’s Psycho-pharmacology committee, as well as many legislative committees, and has led rallies and marches in protest against psychiatric abuse. Gwen’s message is a call to action and a plea for each of us to step up and do our part to help create a medical system that serves all and does harm to none!

When you realize what is being sold to you as a “remedy” you will realize how you are playing Russian Roulette with yours and your children’s lives.

This book is a MUST read for every American and every parent in the country.

It is becoming clear what's happening:  The establishment is starting to worry about all the small bits of research out there that point to retroviruses (basically DNA transgenic tools used in labs to manipulate genes usually in mice) as being the underlying cause of ALS, MS, cancers, chronic fatigue syndrome, leukemia, and a lot more.  Today, the medical establishment forced a retraction of a study that was onto this.  If you look deeper into it, you'll probably see that there is a lot of research being done on anti-aging and extending longevity (the desire of the wealth class), and they are trying all sorts of DNA manipulation on lab mice.  Well, the mice retroviruses are now out in the population, and there are currently being "treated" (not cured) with very expensive designer drugs.  The situation is a complete jew-controlled mess now.  Fortunately, I think these conditions can be treated with cheap stuff like doxycycline and supplements, but doctors and pharmas can't stay in business curing folks on the cheap.  There are lots of pieces to piece together on this.  But it's clear retroviruses are a big problem, and the establishment won't admit it due to all they have invested and want to invest in DNA studies just so they can live longer.
Nobody gets paid to tell the truth.

The situation is a complete jew-controlled mess now.

They probably test all their concoctions on us unsuspecting goys first, no loss to them if there are complications. Good diet and modest exercise helps. I don't go for flu shots and have not had a flu for years, also, I rarely use prescription drugs if there are alternatives.

That's all well & good but perhaps the new viruses can overwhelm natural resistance?  Native Americans were presumably fairly healthy but had mass casualties from smallpox.

Prince Philip,[4] who founded the World Wildlife Fund, and who, in the forward to his autobiography, If I Were an Animal, wrote the following: "In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, in order to contribute something to solve overpopulation."

There are always new swindles... You have no idea how hard it was to convince my daughter-in-law to avoid Gardasil for her daughter. I sent her literature and links, yes, in the end she listened.

Good for you, you probably saved her from death or a serious systemic health problem, or problems!
This is going to be a very long post, but our health, and the likelihood that we will come under biowarfare attack, if we haven't already,  warrants it.
I have to say this - I am not a doctor, and I can't legally and don't give medical advice. These statements have not been evaluated by the AMA or the FDA. The makers and sellers of the EMS 7500 or other such products are unaware of my comments on their product and do not make or sell it for the treatment of any medical condition. And blah blah blah.

One thing about forced vaccinations, when they finally come to pass, is that a technique called "Beck Blood Electrification" works on any pathogen (disease-causing microorganism). All one needs is a battery-powered electro-muscle stimulator or TENS unit. Although electrodes for this use are supposed to be made by wrapping small-diameter stainless steel rods in a few layers of heavy cotton thread (so it will absorb conductive gel or salt water for conductivity, and so it will concentrate current flow over a small area so as to reach a vein or artery), the regular 2 x 2 inch reusable, self-adhering gel electrodes have worked just fine for me.

Forced vaccinations are certain to come, and I believe they may occur next year. The electro-muscle stimulator I use is an EMS 7500 - http://www.amazon.com/Dual-Channel-EMS-Unit-Stimulator/dp/B005BTD7DC. I'm not trying to advertise for anyone, but these are convenient, they last a long time on one 9 volt battery, and they are cheap. I got mine for about $30 + shipping, and if you look around on the web, I'm sure you can find one for less than Amazon's $49.

The best electrodes are 2 x 2 inch, Tyco gel, self-adhering reusable ones (black on one side, white on the other).
I intend to purchase several EMS 7500s over the next few months, so my family and my girlfriend's family will be covered. I have 40 of the electrodes on hand, and a sack of dollar store 9 volt batteries, going to get more of those too. Electrodes can be had very cheaply or very expensively - look around on Amazon and Ebay, maybe Craigslist. Look for TENS or EMS electrodes, add the term "tyco" to get the good quality reusable ones.
You can either put the electrodes over a vein, say at the inside of the elbow and the other near the shoulder, or so the current flows through the arm crossways through where a vein or artery is located.

This technique lowers the surface tension of the blood, which is very healthy. The maximum one should do is 2.5 hours per day at the highest power level you can tolerate. More than that, and I started to feel sick.
If the electrodes become too dry, or they are loose, no longer adhere, you can be shocked. NEVER "cross your body", one electrode on the left side of the body, one on the right (especially across the chest). That can result in a bad shock, and in the case of trans-chest (on either side of the heart), electrocution.
This technique can also cause vigorous and sudden muscle contractions and unexpected limb movements.
For optimal use, the EMS 7500 has to be set (there are three relevant settings) so the stimulation is as continuous as possible, and the power level should be set as high as one can stand.
I used these types of devices for electro-muscle stimulation as well as blood electrification. I've likely used it more than anyone else, ever. Except for, maybe, Bruce Lee. That's how he worked out.

I inject B vitamin complex and cognitive-enhancing drugs frequently, and over long periods of time. If you inject anything regularly, sooner or later you will get an infection. I have, several times, and the electricity always does away with it quickly. Even when it became advanced before I noticed it. It seems to work on generalized infections too (septicemia), so it must do something more than just acting locally. I think it changes the blood somehow to make the immune system work more effectively. My girlfriend recently found out she has scleroderma, and I am confident that she will be cured, largely through the use of blood electrification. We are going to start her treatments on the 4th of January, and I will report on the progress. Scleroderma is caused by a microorganism called mycoplasma.

Many electro-muscle stimulators and TENS units have the same technical specs as the EMS 7500. It would not surprise me to learn that many different brands have the exact same electronics inside. You need (maximum specified) 40 to 50 volts, (maximum specified) 80 to 100 milliamps (mA), and an AC output as opposed to a DC output (DC is galvanic, has positive and negative poles). The waveform should be "asymmetrrical biphasic" (there's nothing specifically neccesary about this other than it is a common AC waveform used in electro-muscle stims). Before I had the EMS 7500, i used a home made stimulator made from  a Radio Shack mini audio amplifier, and a mini audio output transformer wired in reverse to step up the voltage.

Some online advocate the use of a 9 volt battery for blood electrification. I very, very strongly believe this is in error, as is information concerning someone named Hulda Clark and her "zapper". Do NOT bet your life on those frauds.

If I was planning a to-go bag for survival, one of these EMS 7500s, and as many electrodes and 9 volt batteries as I could allot (as far as in relation to what else I needed to carry) would be on the list. It would be better than dying slowly and gruelingly from an infection.
Antibiotics run out quickly, but these should last for years, and as long as you can find a 9 volt power source, you can use it. The Tyco electrodes can conceivably last for several dozens of uses, as long as you keep them on their plastic keeper, in a ziplock bag, and rehydrate them with a drop of water when neccesary.
Antibiotics do not work on viral, mycoplasma (only Minocycline will work on mycoplasma) or fungal infections, whereas electrification does.

If Dr. Garth Nicholson is right, and I think he is, maybe all of us should give this treatment a go.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5412136843859172148

"Autoimmune" diseases are likely all caused by mycoplasmas. they are the ideal bio-warfare agents, and it is extremely likely that they have been used by the US, and have infected most everyone in the world, especially in industrialized countries where there is a lot of international travel.  That's the bad thing about bio-warfare - once you release it, you can't control it unless you firebomb the entire area quickly afterwards, then still maybe not. The former chief virologist for the pharma giant, Merck, stated he believed everyone in the world might be infected with these mycoplasmas. These may well be, and probably are, the cause of skyrocketing disease of all kinds, from cancer, to heart disease, to diabetes, to neuropsych problems.

Another device of use in treating these is called a Beck magnetic pulser, but that is not really of use in an on-the-move survival situation, as it is bulky and uses a lot of electricity. One thing that IS amenable to such scenarios is colloidal silver, very useful for water purification and as an ingestible antimicrobial. All you need fo that is a water container, two strips or lengths of heaavy wire made of fine silver (0.99 to 0.999) (NOT STERLING SILVER or German silver) as long as your fingers, two double-ended alligator clip leads and a 9 volt battery, and water (fluoridated water is NOT recommended for this purpose). You can use a speck of baking soda to make the water conductive. I use distilled water to make it.

Look up "how to make colloidal silver" on the web. Use only one battery, you don't need three 9 volt batteries, stronger is NOT better (It should take 5 to 10 minutes to make), DO NOT use table salt, or anything other than baking soda to make the water conductive. DO NOT rub it into your skin. It will NOT turn you blue. The "Papa Smurf" character on the web TRIED to make himself that way by rubbing it into his skin and then using a tanning bed, etc.
I'm sure the pharmaceutical companies paid him handsomely to smear colloidal silver's reputation, thus insuring their continued antibiotic sales, and our inability to cope with bioweapons. Silver foil was put into war wounds hundreds of years ago, to successfully prevent and cure infections. Although he has been bullied into denying the efficacy of colloidal silver, Dr. Robert O. Becker's book, The Body Electric, has a great amount of material on silver's effectiveness in fighting all kinds of infections. http://www.zptech.net/kbase-silver-4.html

People with argyria (the slate/blue color) most often were exposed to silver nitrate or other silver compounds, or worked in silver mines and other situations where their bodies were exposed to massive amounts of silver or silver salts.  If it occurs, it can likely be reversed by regular ingestion of n-Acetyl cysteine (which is very good for you anyway)
and the use of topical DMSO, especially when that is mixed with allantoin. DMSO is also good for fighting fungal infections, and it is available cheaply from farm supply stores: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18451594

Keep these in mind:

If an Israeli microbiologist ( read: bioweapon engineer ) announces an engineered virus outbreak among people that were already once slaughtered by the millions by jews and tries to shift the blame on them for the outbreak. You better tase the holy schmoly pretzel f#cking crap out of him.

I'm glad the LAPD seems to have figured out the jewish false flag game .

Other than that why is an Israeli riding a Red/black/white volkswagen beetle..
Looks like a staged photo op. So Possibly the whole story is staged.

This is the story of Gwen Olsen. Once a very successful pharmaceutical sales rep., now her mission is to stop the over-medication of our children.

Her niece waited until no one was home, then poured lamp oil over herself, then set herself on fire. She then tried to put the fire out by getting in a tub of left bathwater. Then she called 911. She died on the way to the hospital. The girl was previously an honor student with everything to look forward to. Ms. Olsen tried to convince her mother not to force the girl to go back on the drugs, but her mother was a fanatical believer in the doctors. The girl did this rather than go back on the drugs. She said she would rather die than be crazy, and the drugs made her crazy.

A couple years ago, I finally accepted a monthly prescription for an anxiolytic drug (not an antidepressant or antipsychotic). Later, they added a related drug, zolpidem, a sleeping pill.
Within a year, I contracted a syndrome that 20% of people who use them develop. It must have been the only thing about pharmacology I didn't know. Two minutes of research on the internet beforehand would have saved me.
It was the most terrifying and despairing time in my life. I was extremely lucky, in that I researched and researched, and came up with something, finally, that fixed me. Others who tried the same thing had mixed results.
It almost drove me insane, and it crashed three systems in my body, requiring multiple trips to the emergency room. I almost died. I thank God every day that I did not remain stuck in that abject state. Most who have this syndrome never get better. I don't even care that it was almost all I could think about for more than a year and a half, or that the doctor didn't tell me what was wrong, even as it slowly developed. And he knew. I only care that it's over. I would rather have lost my right arm than to stay like that. I had to figure out what was wrong all on my own. Imagine all your inhibitory nerve receptors switched off, and all the stimulatory ones switched on, all the time. It reminded me of the Fall of the House of Usher. That problem, extremely acute senses. One can see every particle of dust and lint fiber, and hear clocks ticking on the second floor if you're in the basement. You can't shut anything out. Plus every system in the body going haywire, respiratory, cardiac, digestive, nervous system. And your anxiety and panic rises to levels that human beings normally can not experience.  And you feel a level of depression like you've just been told your entire family was killed. It's Hell. And they are still among the most-prescribed drugs. I am unbelievably lucky to still have a good memory.
Some go completely schizo. Many commit suicide. There is often intractable physical pain, a feeling of being crushed. One person I knew can't take showers because it "hurts too much". I've read stories of people who are still going through it more than ten years on, no better, 100% disabled. The medical authorities lie, and tell people if they taper off extremely slowly, they will get better. It's a lie.
Anyone reading this, DO NOT let them prescribe benzodiazepine drugs for you.

Interesting info in your post.  The 'turning blue' scare reminds me of folks who say drinking lots of carrot juice turns the skin orange.  Actually I talked to a woman at a health-food store who said that happened to her--hasn't happened to me though I never drank more than 3/4 liter per day.  (Not that there's anything wrong with having orangey skin!)  Anyway silver's anti-microbial effect is scientific fact---I'm just wondering if drinking colloidal silver wouldn't kill the beneficial GI flora also?

Well blood electrification is interesting.  Many naturopaths emphasize the importance of building an alkaline blood etc system thru proper diet...I've seen that this works.  So it seems logical that electrification could have big benefits.

It does, but that's easily fixable with an active culture yogurt (Lactobacillus only, not any of those weird bacteria). It works for thrush mouth, which is oftem caused by antibiotics.

I try to avoid any prescriptions if I can, however, I am currently on Penicillin, I have to go to the dentist on the 4th of January, there is something wrong with my upper right molar (1). Anyway, I hope he does not have to pull it, I'll know more after I see him.

He is getting close to looking like one...

If I didn't know already who Philip was & saw the picture, I'd think it's a retired jewish cardiologist living in Palm Beach.  Coincidentally World Wildlife Fund is running 'save the tiger' ads this week on tv.  Grrr, I hate when these billionaire/corporate-funded groups guilt avg folks into giving their hard-earned money.
