Deliberate climate modification as a weapon

The US military has conducted experiments to alter the weather for several decades, and even boasts about efforts to "control the weather in 2020." An international treaty banning weather modification as a weapon of war was signed in 1976 -- so this is not a hypothetical technology that only exists in paranoid fantasies.

But it would be very misleading to suggest that deliberate weather modification is the primary source for some of the shifts in global climate. Some of the less-than-reliable websites and other new sources that promote a variety of other not-quite-real claims about political topics argue that weather technology is the culprit, not our use of toxic technologies to power the "American Way of Life" and its imitators around the world. (One prominent 9/11 "truth" activist told an affiliate of this website that there was no need to be concerned about climate change since the military controls the weather!)

The weather is changed through technology every time a car is turned on or a light bulb is connected to the power grid. While corporations and governments bear the largest responsibility for the problem, billions of individual actions need to shift, too.

Weather Warfare: Beware the US military`s experiments with climatic warfare
`˜Climatic warfare` has been excluded from the agenda on climate change.

by Prof. Michel Chossudovsky

Global Research, December 7, 2007
The Ecologist, December 2007

"HAARP is a weapon of mass destruction, capable of destabilising agricultural and ecological systems globally."

"`˜Climatic warfare` potentially threatens the future of humanity, but has casually been excluded from the reports for which the IPCC received the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize."

Rarely acknowledged in the debate on global climate change, the world`s weather can now be modified as part of a new generation of sophisticated electromagnetic weapons. Both the US and Russia have developed capabilities to manipulate the climate for military use.

Environmental modification techniques have been applied by the US military for more than half a century. US mathematician John von Neumann, in liaison with the US Department of Defense, started his research on weather modification in the late 1940s at the height of the Cold War and foresaw `˜forms of climatic warfare as yet unimagined`. During the Vietnam war, cloud-seeding techniques were used, starting in 1967 under Project Popeye, the objective of which was to prolong the monsoon season and block enemy supply routes along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

The US military has developed advanced capabilities that enable it selectively to alter weather patterns. The technology, which is being perfected under the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP), is an appendage of the Strategic Defense Initiative `“ `˜Star Wars`. From a military standpoint, HAARP is a weapon of mass destruction, operating from the outer atmosphere and capable of destabilising agricultural and ecological systems around the world.

While the substance of the 1977 Convention was reasserted in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) signed at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio, debate on weather modification for military use has become a scientific taboo.

Military analysts are mute on the subject. Meteorologists are not investigating the matter and environmentalists are focused on greenhouse gas emissions under the Kyoto Protocol. Neither is the possibility of climatic or environmental manipulations as part of a military and intelligence agenda, while tacitly acknowledged, part of the broader debate on climate change under UN auspices.the US Air Force points to the unthinkable: the covert manipulation of weather patterns, communications and electric power systems as a weapon of global warfare, enabling the US to disrupt and dominate entire regions.

Weather manipulation is the pre-emptive weapon par excellence. It can be directed against enemy countries or `˜friendly nations` without their knowledge, used to destabilise economies, ecosystems and agriculture. It can also trigger havoc in financial and commodity markets. The disruption in agriculture creates a greater dependency on food aid and imported grain staples from the US and other Western countries.

AIR FORCE 2025 - MILITARY APPLICATIONS OF WEATHER MODIFICATION

In 2025 US aerospace forces can "own the weather" by capitalizing on emerging technologies and focusing development of those technologies to warfighting applications. Such a capability offers the warfighter tools to shape the battlespace in ways never before possible.

23 March 2003: How about that weather?

Reports that a sandstorm has slowed down the US advance in Iraq (here's one report). Apparently this is the result of a storm system that has been moving toward the region from the north for several days. Many might see this as divine intervention. But that aside, random chance might not be the only other explanation. Some of the available information on weather modification that I have seen indicates that Russia is quite advanced in this area of hi-tech military research (perhaps foremost in the world). The US has been working in this area as well, following publicly known policy directives, and applying atmosphere-modifying electromagnetic technology in the form of HAARP, but similar technology was already in use decades ago in the USSR according to some researchers (this was thanks to Soviet scientists' greater understanding and appreciation for the pioneering work of physicist Nicola Tesla, among other things).

I hadn't come across any mention of this possibility yet, so I thought I'd bring it up. If weather continues to emerge as a major factor in Iraq, it could be something to consider, especially given Russia's position on the war.

U.S. makes weather control powder
By BBC Science's Julian Siddle

A company in the United States claims it has invented a powder that can be used to remove clouds from the sky and even stop the development of hurricanes.

They say the new product could help many areas of the world that are subject to extreme weather conditions.

The Florida based company, Dyn-o-mat, used a military aircraft to drop four tonnes of its powder on to a developing storm cloud. The cloud disappeared from radar screens, which were monitoring the experiment.
Officials from the company, which produces materials to absorb pollutants such as oil and acids, say they used a specially developed powder that absorbs large quantities of water.

'Completely safe'

The water is then turned into a gel before falling out of the sky. The company says the gel is completely safe, bio-degradable, and breaks down in seawater - though they refuse to say exactly what is in it. Among the applications that it envisages for the powder are clearing away clouds before sports fixtures and constraining the development hurricanes.

The company believes that a tightly controlled jet of the powder aimed at the hurricane would cut it into smaller pieces, making it far less threatening. The US Government has already expressed interest in the new product, and the company says it could be useful worldwide.

Water Wars

The Israel / Palestine war is in large part being fought over water.  The West Bank sits over a large aquifer.  In addition, the Golan Heights - annexed by Israel from Syria - is the headwaters of the Sea of Galilee and the Jordan River.  In a desert, control of water is as vital as control of oil for modern societies.

"Resource wars" are things that happen elsewhere. We don't usually think of our country as water poor or imagine that "resource wars" might be applied as a description to various state and local governments in the southwest, southeast, or upper Midwest now fighting tooth and nail for previously shared water. And yet, "war" may not be a bad metaphor for what's on the horizon. According to the National Climate Data Center, federal officials have declared 43 percent of the contiguous U.S. to be in "moderate to extreme drought." Already, Sonny Perdue of Georgia is embroiled in an ever more bitter conflict -- a "water war," as the headlines say -- with the governors of Florida and Alabama, as well as the Army Corps of Engineers, over the flow of water into and out of the Atlanta area.

He's hardly alone. After all, the Southwest is in the grips of what, according to Davis, some climatologists are terming a "'mega-drought,' even the 'worst in 500 years.'" More shockingly, he writes, such conditions may actually represent the region's new "normal weather" Or consider another "and then" prediction: What if the prolonged drought in the southwest turns out, as Mike Davis wrote in the Nation magazine, to be "on the scale of the medieval catastrophes that contributed to the notorious collapse of the complex Anasazi societies at Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde during the twelfth century"?

What if, indeed?

The Future Is Drying Up

Scientists sometimes refer to the effect a hotter world will have on this country's fresh water as the other water problem, because global warming more commonly evokes the specter of rising oceans submerging our great coastal cities. By comparison, the steady decrease in mountain snowpack - the loss of the deep accumulation of high-altitude winter snow that melts each spring to provide the American West with most of its water - seems to be a more modest worry. But not all researchers agree with this ranking of dangers. Last May, for instance, Steven Chu, a Nobel laureate and the director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, one of the United States government's pre-eminent research facilities, remarked that diminished supplies of fresh water might prove a far more serious problem than slowly rising seas.

On the far side of the Three Sisters, near the peak of Middle Sister, Collier Glacier has advanced and receded for the last several hundred thousand years. But it will soon be time to bring rose petals to the mountain and sprinkle them on the glacier's remaining ice, bidding it farewell, said geologist Ellen Morris Bishop of the Fossil-based Oregon Paleo Lands Institute.

This quote from Drew Shindell (NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, New York) hit me very close to home: "Much of the Mediterranean area, North Africa and the Middle East rapidly are becoming drier. If the trend continues as expected, the consequences may be severe in only a couple of decades. These changes could pose significant water resource challenges to large segments of the population" (February, 2007-NASA, Science Daily).

MELBOURNE'S water storages have fallen for the first time in more than four months, raising concerns about water security over summer. The storages are holding about 75 billion litres less than they did at the same time last year - grim news as the city approaches summer. Water Minister Tim Holding said last month that Stage 3a water restrictions would remain until June 30, 2008, no matter how low the storages fell.

Water levels fell as low as 28.4 per cent of capacity in June this year, a figure likely to be challenged if there is another dry summer and autumn. Yesterday, the storages were at 40.1 per cent, a drop of 0.1 per cent. This is the first time they have dipped by that amount since June 16. Melbourne Water spokesman Ben Pratt said it was a sign that the countryside was drying out.

"While we would obviously like to see storages continue to climb through spring, with the warmer weather we would expect some variations at this time of year as the top layers of the catchments begin to dry out and streamflows decline," he said.

Water is a Matter of Public Debate
by Dennis Kucinich

Every human being has the right to clean water. In the United States, water has long been considered a vital resource and thus managed in the public interest by local governments accountable to their constituents.

The mission of a public water system is simple: Deliver safe, clean and affordable water to you and your family. Public works projects funded and built our existing water infrastructure, which has served us well during the last century. But our water infrastructure is beginning to show signs of age. Pollution, decaying pipes, depleted aquifers and other problems pose real threats to the U.S. water supply and communities across the nation are looking for ways to bring water systems up to safe and modern standards.

Privatizing water systems, however, is not the answer. Private companies, seeking to extract profits from municipal water systems, dangle lofty promises in order to gain control of local water systems. Corporations want people to believe that only they can efficiently manage water systems.

They seek monopoly contracts to run water systems for generations, or to expand the outright corporate ownership of water supplies and infrastructure.

Yet, from Atlanta to the United Kingdom to Huber Heights, Ohio, private water providers have charged higher rates, deteriorated water quality and failed to make assured investments. In fact, privatization failed so miserably in Atlanta that the city ousted United Water, only four years into a 20-year contract. Four years of broken promises and managerial debacles was more than enough.

Residents in many California communities are increasingly concerned with local water systems falling into the hands of a distant corporation. In Stockton, where city officials recently voted to privatize the public water system, citizens are responding by going door-to-door to collect signatures in an effort to nullify the City Council's decision.

I strongly believe that public control and public administration of the public's water supply is the only way to guarantee the universal human right of access to clean water. A grassroots movement of people is working to protect water from privatization by offering many alternative solutions to solve the global water crisis. Direct citizen participation should be encouraged when basic services such as water are being discussed. I hope that at the World Water Forum, which begins Sunday in Kyoto, Japan, this international movement of people will be heard.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, is the ranking member of the House National Security, Veterans Affairs and International Relations Subcommittee. For information on the World Water Forum, see <http://www.world.water-forum3.com>www.world.water-forum3.com.

Armed Forces Are Put on Standby to Tackle Threat of Wars over Water
by Ben Russell and Nigel Morris

Across the world, they are coming: the water wars. From Israel to India, from Turkey to Botswana, arguments are going on over disputed water supplies that may soon burst into open conflict. Yesterday, Britain's Defence Secretary, John Reid, pointed to the factor hastening the violent collision between a rising world population and a shrinking world water resource: global warming. In a grim first intervention in the climate-change debate, the Defence Secretary issued a bleak forecast that violence and political conflict would become more likely in the next 20 to 30 years as climate change turned land into desert, melted ice fields and poisoned water supplies.

Climate campaigners echoed Mr Reid's warning, and demanded that ministers redouble their efforts to curb carbon emissions. Tony Blair will today host a crisis Downing Street summit to address what he called "the major long-term threat facing our planet", signalling alarm within Government at the political consequences of failing to deal with the spectre of global warming. Activists are modelling their campaign on last year's Make Poverty History movement in the hope of creating immense popular pressure for action on climate change.

Mr Reid used a speech at Chatham House last night to deliver a stark assessment of the potential impact of rising temperatures on the political and human make-up of the world. He listed climate change alongside the major threats facing the world in future decades, including international terrorism, demographic changes and global energy demand. Mr Reid signalled Britain's armed forces would have to be prepared to tackle conflicts over dwindling resources. Military planners have already started considering the potential impact of global warming for Britain's armed forces over the next 20 to 30 years. They accept some climate change is inevitable, and warn Britain must be prepared for humanitarian disaster relief, peacekeeping and warfare to deal with the dramatic social and political consequences of climate change.

Mr Reid warned of increasing uncertainty about the future of the countries least well equipped to deal with flooding, water shortages and valuable agricultural land turning to desert.

He said climate change was already a contributory factor in conflicts in Africa.

Mr Reid said: "As we look beyond the next decade, we see uncertainty growing; uncertainty about the geopolitical and human consequences of climate change. "Impacts such as flooding, melting permafrost and desertification could lead to loss of agricultural land, poisoning of water supplies and destruction of economic infrastructure. "More than 300 million people in Africa currently lack access to safe water; climate change will worsen this dire situation."

He added: "These changes are not just of interest to the geographer or the demographer; they will make scarce resources, clean water, viable agricultural land even scarcer. "Such changes make the emergence of violent conflict more rather than less likely... The blunt truth is that the lack of water and agricultural land is a significant contributory factor to the tragic conflict we see unfolding in Darfur. We should see this as a warning sign." Tony Juniper, the executive director of Friends of the Earth, said: "The science of global warming is becoming ever more certain about the scale of the problem we have, and now the implications of that for security and politics is beginning to emerge."

He said the problems could be most acute in the Middle East and North Africa.

Charlie Kornick, head of climate campaigning at the pressure group Greenpeace, said billions of people faced pressure on water supplies due to climate change across Africa, Asia and South America. He said: "If politicians realise how serious the problems could be, why are British CO2 emissions still going up?" Tony Blair will be joined by the Chancellor Gordon Brown, the Environment Secretary, Margaret Beckett, and the International Development Secretary, Hilary Benn, at today's talks in Downing Street.

They will be meeting representatives of the recently created Stop Climate Chaos, an alliance of environmental groups including Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and Oxfam. It will also meet opposition parties. The alliance will call for the Government to commit itself to achieving a 3 per cent annual fall in carbon dioxide emissions.

The facts

* On our watery planet, 97.5 per cent of water is salt water, unfit for human use.
* Most of the fresh water is locked in the ice caps.
* The recommended basic water requirement per person per day is 50 litres. But people can get by
with about 30 litres: 5 litres for food and drink and another 25 for hygiene.
* Some countries use less than 10 litres per person per day. Gambia uses 4.5, Mali 8, Somalia 8.9,
   and Mozambique 9.3.
* By contrast the average US citizen uses 500 litres per day, and the British average is 200.
* In the West, it takes about eight litres to brush our teeth, 10 to 35 litres to flush a lavatory, and
100 to 200 litres to take a shower.

* The litres of water needed to produce a kilo of:
Potatoes 1,000
Maize     1,400
Wheat    1,450
Chicken  4,600
Beef     42,500

Hot issues light up meeting
By Tom Waddill/News Editor

Lois Kolkhorst expects fewer fireworks during the upcoming session of the Texas Legislature. There might not be any lawmaker walkouts or billion-dollar shortfalls like in 2003, but there will be plenty of challenges for those headed to Austin next week.

On Thursday, Kolkhorst talked about many of the state's hottest issues with people from the Huntsville area during a town hall meeting at the Walker County Courthouse. A near-capacity crowd came out on a chilly evening to listen to the state representative from District 13.
....

Sam Houston State political science professor John Holcombe questioned Kolkhorst about one of her pet projects and wondered if there were going to be any water issues to watch during the next few months.
"What's going on in water is pretty incredible," Kolkhorst replied. "Water will be one of the top five issues for the next five to 10 years, and it probably should be No. 1. We fight wars over oil, I wonder if we'll ever fight wars over water."

East Texas, she explained, has a tremendous amount of surface water from lakes like Livingston, Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend, but East Texans don't want to trade their water yet. Kolkhorst said people in East Texas are starting to see the value in their surplus of water, and soon might be willing to share it for a price with metropolitan areas that need it.

"Water is very interesting. It's contentious," she said. "People don't like their water to be taken away. If you move water from rural areas, you should be compensated for it and compensated handsomely."

Forget OPEC. The next cartel may export drinking water.

Already, companies are locking up resources and selling abroad.

CIA's "2015" report predicts water shortages, increasing inequities and public health emergencies

Billions of people may suffer severe water shortages as glaciers melt: WWFMILAN (AFP) Nov 27, 2003
Billions of people will face severe water shortages as glaciers around the world melt unless governments take urgent action to tackle global warming, the environmental group WWF said Thursday, ahead of a UN conference on climate change.

"Increasing global temperatures in the coming century will cause continued widespread melting of glaciers, which contain 70 percent of the world's fresh water reserves," it warned in a new study. "An overall rise of temperature of four degrees Celsius before the end of the century would eliminate almost all of them," it said. Average temperatures have risen between 0.6 and 0.7 degrees Celsius since 1860, according to WWF, which urged countries to curb emissions of carbon dioxide to ensure the increase stays well below a threshold of two degrees.

The Switzerland-based conservation group released its study on climate change and global glacier decline in Milan where more than 180 countries are due to gather from December 1-12 for the UN Climate Change Convention to assess progress in addressing problems concerning global warming. "The melting of glaciers will lead to water shortages for billions of people, as well as sea levels rising and destroying coastal communities worldwide," WWF said.

Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, where major cities rely on glaciers as their main source of water during dry seasons, would be worst affected, it predicted. In the Himalayas, there was a grave danger of flooding, the group said, noting that glacier-fed rivers in the region supply water to one third of the world's population. "Glacial meltdown is a clear sign that we must act now to fight global warming and stop the melting," said Jennifer Morgan, director of WWF's climate change programme.

The environmental organisation called on the ministers who will attend the Milan conference to act faster to combat global warming, urging those from developing nations in particular to demonstrate their will to tackle the issue. WWF wants strong rules governing the use of forests, which play a vital role in absorbing carbon dioxide. The group also asked governments to ensure Russia ratifies the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, which establishes a set of goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Already ratified by 119 countries, the text just needs a commitment from Moscow to become international law, it said. On Tuesday, Italian officials said the European Union has pledged 390 million dollars (325 million euros) a year to help developing countries from 2005 fight the damaging effects of climate change. In 2001, 20 countries including the 15 EU members pledged to provide 410 million dollars annually to poorer countries until 2005.

People's Water Forum Urges World Water Parliament

FLORENCE, Italy, March 24, 2003 (ENS) - The Iraq conflict is partly about future control of Iraq's huge water resources, an Italian Catholic missionary told an alternative world water forum in Florence, endorsing the meeting's closing call for a new world water deal based on public sector control and a legal right to water for all by 2020.

(*Editor's Note: In all of the stories that have come and gone in recent months, this could well be the most offensive of them all. ''It's simple," says Evangelical Christian Army chaplain Josh Llano. "They want water. I have it, as long as they agree to get baptized." In so many ways, this represents the true mindset of the individuals who have pushed this war. It is right down the line with the actions of this administration over the past three years; recall that, when our airmen were being held in China back in 2001, Mr. Bush was only concerned with whether or not they had Bibles. - wrp)

Army Chaplain Offers Baptisms, Baths
By Meg Laughlin ~ Miami Herald
Saturday 05 April 2003

CAMP BUSHMASTER, Iraq - In this dry desert world near Najaf, where the Army V Corps combat support system sprawls across miles of scabrous dust, there's an oasis of sorts: a 500-gallon pool of pristine, cool water. It belongs to Army chaplain Josh Llano of Houston, who sees the water shortage, which has kept thousands of filthy soldiers from bathing for weeks, as an opportunity. ''It's simple. They want water. I have it, as long as they agree to get baptized,'' he said. And agree they do. Every day, soldiers take the plunge for the Lord and come up clean for the first time in weeks.

''They do appear physically and spiritually cleansed,'' Llano said. First, though, the soldiers have to go to one of Llano's hour-and-a-half sermons in his dirt-floor tent. Then the baptism takes an hour of quoting from the Bible. ''Regardless of their motives,'' Llano said, ``I get the chance to take them closer to the Lord.'' A blue-eyed 32-year-old with an abundance of energy, Llano goes out every day to drum up grimy soldiers for his pool. He talks to truck drivers, tank drivers, computer specialists -- anyone and everyone. He goes out to the combat zone to the fighting soldiers and the combat support soldiers who keep them in supplies.

''You have to be aggressive to help people find themselves in God,'' he said. He calls himself a ''Southern Baptist evangelist,'' and justifies the war and killing with a verse from the Gospel of Matthew, which he often recites: ``Give unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's.
''This means we are called upon by our government to fight and that is giving unto Caesar, as the Bible tells us,'' he said. Earlier this week, word went out that portable showers might be installed here soon, but Llano was undaunted. ''There is no fruit out here, and I have a stash of raisins, juice boxes and fruit rolls to pull out,'' the chaplain said optimistically.

Deal to Sell Water All Wet, Critics Charge
by Richard Sisk

UMM QASR, Iraq - The U.S. military came up with a solution yesterday for the penniless people of this port town begging for water: Sell it.

Despite general mayhem at distribution points - including knife fights - the Army has struck a hasty agreement with local Iraqis to expedite distribution of water to the roughly 40,000 living here. Under the deal, the military will provide water free to locals with access to tanker trucks, who then will be allowed to sell the water for a "reasonable" fee.

"We're permitting them to charge a small fee for water," said Army Col. David Bassert. "This provides them with an incentive to hustle and to work," said Bassert, an assistant commander with the 354th Civil Affairs Brigade. He said he could not suggest what constitutes a reasonable fee and did not know what the truckers were charging. He said the tradition here of haggling at markets would help the system work.
"People know when they're being gouged - we'll deal with it," Bassert said. But with the population badly in need of water, food and medical supplies, the arrangement drew its share of critics.

'This is crazy'

Several Iraqi-Americans originally from this region, who are working as interpreters and guides with the U.S. military, were incensed at what they consider an attempt to jump-start a free-market economy during a crisis. "This is bull----," said an Iraqi-American who asked to be identified only as Ahmed. "They are selling water and this is crazy. Nobody has any money, nobody knows what is money [to use] - Iraqi money, American money, nobody knows."

A British military spokesman angrily objected to the water deal. The British control the city of Umm Qasr while the Americans are in charge of the port. "We're not going to have any charging for water. What kind of an aid plan would that be? These people don't even have shoes," the spokesman said. Ahmed and the others said they had seen fights with fists and knives among desperate locals trying to get water from the truckers.

Ill at ease

The reports could not be independently confirmed because a promised military escort for reporters into town never took place. Officers said the trip was canceled because of widespread clashes between remnants of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein's supporters and British troops, although no firing could be heard and the Iraqi-Americans who spent the afternoon in town said no clashes had taken place. But the general situation was far from secure. A heavy mortar or artillery round launched toward the port shook buildings and rattled windows but exploded beyond the fence and caused no casualties.

Editor's Note: The military has confiscated the satellite phones of a certain make used by journalists traveling with U.S. troops in Iraq, including those used by reporter Richard Sisk and photographer Todd Maisel of the Daily News, for fear that Iraqi forces could intercept the signal and target U.S. positions. Kurds Gassed / Iraq or Iran? + War for Water? A War Crime or an Act of War?

by Stephen C. Pelletiere
Editorial/Op-Ed 31JAN2003
http://www.nytimes.com/2003/01/31/opinion/31PELL.html

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - It was no surprise that President Bush, lacking smoking-gun evidence of Iraq's weapons programs, used his State of the Union address to re-emphasize the moral case for an invasion: "The dictator who is assembling the world's most dangerous weapons has already used them on whole villages, leaving thousands of his own citizens dead, blind or disfigured."

The accusation that Iraq has used chemical weapons against its citizens is a familiar part of the debate. The piece of hard evidence most frequently brought up concerns the gassing of Iraqi Kurds at the town of Halabja in March 1988, near the end of the eight-year Iran-Iraq war. President Bush himself has cited Iraq's "gassing its own people," specifically at Halabja, as a reason to topple Saddam Hussein. But the truth is, all we know for certain is that Kurds were bombarded with poison gas that day at Halabja. We cannot say with any certainty that Iraqi chemical weapons killed the Kurds. This is not the only distortion in the Halabja story.

I am in a position to know because, as the Central Intelligence Agency's senior political analyst on Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war, and as a professor at the Army War College from 1988 to 2000, I was privy to much of the classified material that flowed through Washington having to do with the Persian Gulf. In addition, I headed a 1991 Army investigation into how the Iraqis would fight a war against the United States; the classified version of the report went into great detail on the Halabja affair.

This much about the gassing at Halabja we undoubtedly know: it came about in the course of a battle between Iraqis and Iranians. Iraq used chemical weapons to try to kill Iranians who had seized the town, which is in northern Iraq not far from the Iranian border. The Kurdish civilians who died had the misfortune to be caught up in that exchange. But they were not Iraq's main target. And the story gets murkier: immediately after the battle the United States Defense Intelligence Agency investigated and produced a classified report, which it circulated within the intelligence community on a need-to-know basis. That study asserted that it was Iranian gas that killed the Kurds, not Iraqi gas.

The agency did find that each side used gas against the other in the battle around Halabja. The condition of the dead Kurds' bodies, however, indicated they had been killed with a blood agent - that is, a cyanide-based gas - which Iran was known to use. The Iraqis, who are thought to have used mustard gas in the battle, are not known to have possessed blood agents at the time. These facts have long been in the public domain but, extraordinarily, as often as the Halabja affair is cited, they are rarely mentioned. A
much-discussed article in The New Yorker last March did not make reference to the Defense Intelligence Agency report or consider that Iranian gas might have killed the Kurds. On the rare occasions the report is brought up, there is usually speculation, with no proof, that it was skewed out of American political favoritism toward Iraq in its war against Iran. I am not trying to rehabilitate the character of Saddam Hussein.

He has much to answer for in the area of human rights abuses. But accusing him of gassing his own people at Halabja as an act of genocide is not correct, because as far as the information we have goes, all of the cases where gas was used involved battles. These were tragedies of war. There may be justifications for invading Iraq, but Halabja is not one of them. In fact, those who really feel that the disaster at Halabja has bearing on today might want to consider a different question: Why was Iran so keen on taking the town? A closer look may shed light on America's impetus to invade Iraq.

We are constantly reminded that Iraq has perhaps the world's largest reserves of oil. But in a regional and perhaps even geopolitical sense, it may be more important that Iraq has the most extensive river system in the Middle East. In addition to the Tigris and Euphrates, there are the Greater Zab and Lesser Zab rivers in the north of the country. Iraq was covered with irrigation works by the sixth century A.D., and was a granary for the region. Before the Persian Gulf war, Iraq had built an impressive system of dams and river control projects, the largest being the Darbandikhan dam in the Kurdish area. And it was this dam the

Iranians were aiming to take control of when they seized Halabja. In the 1990's there was much discussion over the construction of a so-called Peace Pipeline that would bring the waters of the Tigris and Euphrates south to the parched Gulf states and, by extension, Israel. No progress has been made on this, largely because of Iraqi intransigence. With Iraq in American hands, of course, all that could change. Thus America could alter the destiny of the Middle East in a way that probably could not be challenged for decades - not solely by controlling Iraq's oil, but by controlling its water. Even if America didn't occupy the country, once Mr. Hussein's Baath Party is driven from power, many lucrative opportunities would open up for American companies.

All that is needed to get us into war is one clear reason for acting, one that would be generally persuasive. But efforts to link the Iraqis directly to Osama bin Laden have proved inconclusive. Assertions that Iraq threatens its neighbors have also failed to create much resolve; in its present debilitated condition - thanks to United Nations sanctions - Iraq's conventional forces threaten no one. Perhaps the strongest argument left for taking us to war quickly is that Saddam Hussein has committed human rights atrocities against his people. And the most dramatic case are the accusations about Halabja. Before we go to war over Halabja, the administration owes the American people the full facts.

And if it has other examples of Saddam Hussein gassing Kurds, it must show that they were not pro-Iranian Kurdish guerrillas who died fighting alongside Iranian Revolutionary Guards. Until Washington gives us proof of Saddam Hussein's supposed atrocities, why are we picking on Iraq on human rights grounds, particularly when there are so many other repressive regimes Washington supports?

World's Water Supply at Risk

By Kevin Danaher and Shannon Biggs and Jason Mark, PoliPoint Press

http://www.alternet.org/story/62950/

The following conversation is an excerpt from the new book Building the Green Economy: Success Stories from the Grassroots (PoliPointPress, 2007) by Kevin Danaher, Shannon Biggs, and Jason Mark. You can read more about the book here. Maude Barlow is possibly the world's leading expert on water struggles. She is the national chairperson of the Council of Canadians, that country's largest citizen's advocacy group, with members and chapters across Canada. She is a director with the International Forum on Globalization, a San Francisco research and education institution opposed to corporate globalization. In 2005, she received the prestigious "Right Livelihood Award," given by the Swedish Parliament and widely referred to as "The Alternative Nobel."

She has received honorary doctorates from six universities and has authored or co-authored 15 books, including Too Close For Comfort: Canada's Future Within Fortress North America; and Blue Gold: The Fight to Stop Corporate Theft of the World's Water (with Tony Clarke). Her most recent book is Blue Covenant: The Global Water Crisis and the Fight for the Right to Water.

Q: What are the greatest threats to local water supplies?

Maude Barlow: First of all, we are creating an ecological crisis by not taking care of our water supplies. Surface waters are being polluted, and we are mining our groundwater at unsustainable rates. At the very time when corporations are privatizing everything, our governments are allowing corporations to move in and take over the ownership of essential resources like water.

So we have a double whammy: Our governments are allowing corporations to pollute our water, and then they are signing contracts with corporations to bring in clean-up technology and make billions of dollars cleaning it up. The very sector of society that is polluting our water is turning around and selling our water back to us. And this is going to be more and more of an issue in the future. We'll be increasingly drinking water that has been polluted by corporations, then cleaned up by corporations, then bottled and sold to us by corporations.

Q: What are some success stories of people protecting their water?

MB: The people of Uruguay held a plebiscite and got enough votes for a referendum in the national election in October 2004 in which they called for a constitutional amendment saying that water is a human right, and they won. The government was forced to change its constitution, and Uruguay became the first country in the world to vote on whether people have a human right to water, and the private companies were forced out. There have been quite a few successful fight-backs across North America. The city of Atlanta allowed a private company to come in to run its water system, and the city kicked them out two and a half years into a 20-year contract. They said, "Get out. You lied. The water coming out of the taps is brown, and you raised the price. Get out."

We kept private water companies from taking over the water systems in Toronto and Vancouver. There's a big movement in the heart of France, led by Danielle Mitterand, the widow of the former French president, Francois Mitterand. She is leading this fight to bring water under public control, and many city mayors of some good-sized towns and cities -- not yet Paris -- are backing her. So even in the belly of the beast, there are some exciting movements.

Q: What about the struggle against Coca-Cola in India?

MB: When you dig deep into Coca-Cola's practices, you see it's really a bad company. They are using military satellite imagery to find clean sources of groundwater and then going in -- often in poor tribal communities -- and setting up a plant and just helping themselves to the water until the water is gone. I call it water mining. We're working with folks in the state of Kerala, India, who have taken the Coca-Cola company all the way to their Supreme Court to fight the way Coke comes in and sucks up massive amounts of groundwater, pollutes it with sweeteners and chemical additives, and then makes huge profits selling this nonnutritious drink to the public. The Supreme Court of India has ruled largely in the people's favor. Yet Coke is still fighting; they refuse to give up. But these grassroots activists don't give up, either. It's been a real successful fight-back against Coca-Cola.

Q: Does it seem to you that the United States and Canada are more, or less, water-conscious than people in other nations?

MB: Individually, we are terrible water-guzzlers. We use a great deal of water per capita through our industrial practices, agriculture, mining, and, in my country, through oil extraction from tar sands. We take a little better care of our groundwater than many Third World countries because we citizens have a little more control; the corporations tend to be from our countries, and we can exert greater influence on them. There is serious pollution -- I'm not suggesting there isn't -- but we don't see the kind of blatant pollution you see in many poor countries. In some countries, the water is foul due to the combination of absolutely no sanitation systems, people using river systems as toilets, to bathe in, to cook in, their garbage dumps, their sewage dumps, everything goes into those open waterways where there's no purification or any kind of water reclamation. As industrial growth and the industrial model moves into the Third World, it's bringing massive pollution.

Also, people are being driven off the land. They are moving into urban slums where there's no water, and they create more of a problem because they are adding to the numbers in the cities that are not treating their sewage. About 90 percent of the sewage in the countries of the global south goes untreated back into waterways, rivers, and oceans. It's a cyclical problem that intensifies as we move from rural sustainable living to urban unsustainable living.

We're creating massive water pollution problems. It's lower in the U.S. and Canada because we've got more money for clean-up and slightly better laws for industry. But water pollution is happening just about everywhere. The only societies where water is still treated sacredly are in ancient tribal societies. Many rural communities in India, China, Africa, and Latin America are still living the way that their ancestors did centuries ago; they aren't creating significant levels of pollution.

Q: Who's using the bulk of the water here in North America?

MB: Most of the water is used by industry and agribusiness, which is also an industry. The industrial food production system uses nitrates, chemical fertilizers, and pesticides, which contaminate a lot of water. Intensive livestock operations create horrible pollution. So one of the most important things we can do is to create a more sustainable agricultural system.

Q: Are there any really tough issues that the movement needs to face that you feel we're not confronting adequately?

MB: That's the part of my new book that surprised me the most: the technological takeover of our planet's water system. We have been following very closely the big utility companies like Suez and Vivendi, who run water systems on a for-profit basis. And we have been following the bottled water companies, and those have been the kind of two big ones.

And then we have been worried about major movement of water through pipelines, but we have not been keeping our eye on the whole issue of technology to clean up dirty water, whether that's desalination, water purification, nanotechnology purification. It's going to be the "great white hope," and it's all unregulated and very corporate controlled, and it doesn't surprise me that when you look at the United Nations' millennium development goals on water, nobody is talking about cleaning up polluted water. Because, hey, there's gold in those hills. The more our water becomes polluted, the more precious it becomes. The more desperate people are, the more they will pay for their water, and the more money there is to be made from cleaning it up.

The fastest-growing sector of the private water industry is this high technology water clean-up section of this industry, and we must get a better handle on the whole thing. I think that what we are seeing is a cartel of water that is being created like the cartel that has been created for energy. For a long time now, when there was a find of a new field of oil or gas, some large corporation owned it even before it was out of the ground. I see them doing this now with water, and I call them water hunters. These water hunters move in with one goal: to monopolize control over a precious resource in order to make money.

Q: Are you noticing a greater receptivity to your message about the coming water crisis?

MB: Most definitely. I was in down in Lubbock, Texas, on a local radio station, and this guy called in and said, "I'm a right-wing, diehard, Republican, red meat, conservative businessman. And I think the little lady's right. Water is different. You can't have anyone monopolize it." It was fascinating; he totally had my argument. We didn't agree on anything else, but we agreed on the importance of retaining public control over this vital resource. So that is hopeful.

Turner is trying to corner the land over the Ogallala Aquifer, the world's largest underground water system, to gain power in the water-starved West.

"There are two principal branches to Moon's interest in Paraguay," he said, "control of the largest fresh drinking water source in the world and control of the narcotics business", which is so prevalent in this area.

Interesting article, I thought he may have retired by now.

Turner's spokesmen said the driving force behind Turner's land purchases is the desire to make
money. Turner's Vermejo Park Ranch in New Mexico, for example, offers weeklong elk-hunting
excursions at $12,000 a pop. He also has entered the restaurant business, opening more than
50 Ted's Montana Grill restaurants across the country that feature bison meat.

Yes, and guess WHO else: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/4/28/2544/07385

In early 2005 Paraguay passed a law that allowed the country to harbor international criminals--
alright, the more diplomatic phrasing is that they granted immunity to U.S. military, (thus, including
Commander-in-Chief Bush) from the International Criminal Court if indicted for war crimes or crimes
against humanity. (Another link here concerning military moving in to Paraguay.) This was around
he same time (May 2005) 400 US Marines were allowed to operate in the country in exchange for aid
     for 18 months.

Bush allegedly bought land in Paraguay in 2006, a roughly 98,840 acre parcel in the Paso de Patria
area called "Chaco", close to the intersections of Paraguay, Bolivia, and Brazil.  Apparently, it's
a gorgeous spot. The land is close to the Bolivian wetlands, is situated near natural gas reserves,
and sits atop one of the largest aquifers in the world, the Guarani indigenous water region. Part of
the property has been designated an ecological reserve. And wow, they think of everything, it's
close to the US Mariscal Estigarribia Military Base. The U.S. officially denies having troops there except
for "exercises", and vigorously denies rumors of having its own base there.

Jenna Bush was sent on a "family mission" the first week of October '06 to seal the deal, accompanied
by 10 security guards.  She met the President of Paraguay and the U.S. Ambassador and "officially"
traveled with UNICEF to see a few of their projects, a "strictly private" tour.

Apparently, Bush Sr. owns roughly 173,000 acres in the same area, although there are no confirmed
reports.  But, here is the strange part: none other than the Reverend Sun Myung Moon was the first
to buy a huge chunk in 2000, in that very area.  The Moonies have big plans: they want to develop
ports, universities, an eco-tourism resort (will his an Bush's intersect?), and reinvigorate the timber
trade to Asia. They are in Argentina already, but it seems they are branching out. And it seems like
     the Bushes followed him.

Bush, Sr. is a big fan of Rev. Moon, and is quoted as calling Moon "the man with the vision," in
Argentina in 1996 while helping him hawk his news publication "Times of the World." As you know,
Moon also owns the Washington Times. It helps to be a sycophant to someone who donates
significantly to one's coffers--Bush made $100,000 for the endorsement, and some sources say
Moon has given the Bush family approximately $10 million dollars over the years. I won't go into the
implications of Bush II's Faith Based Initiatives and how much money Moon has undoubtedly made
from American tax dollars either directly or though tax credits. But, it seems as if the entire Bush
clan has a friendship, professional or otherwise, with Reverend Moon.

The article says:

And Moon helped Bush out with his own vision thing, paying him $100000 for the .... Bush allegedly bought land in Paraguay in 2006, a roughly 98840 acre parcel inLook at the dates. It looks to me, that the moonies and bushies got their way anyway....

For those of you that may remember Post World War II history, Paraguay was the home operating base of the O.D.E.S.A The German Nazi organization that smuggled top former Nazi's out of post WWII Europe and offered this safe harbor in South America namely Paraguay.

Isn't it ironic that the Bush Family (who made their millions banking with Nazi Germany) now are buying up thousands of acres in Paraguay and Argentina? ....LOL

Who knows, Pete?

In 1948 how many people do you think believed George Orwell?
1984 coincidentally the reverse of the year written, 1948.

If we don't believe that man is the cause of weather patterns -- that the natural forces are much bigger than that caused by human activities, then we don't listen to the hot air coming from the globalists.  But if we didn't listen, like a lot of us don't, then they impose laws and control us by force.

Hundreds of Yankton, South Dakota birds deliberately poisoned by USDA

Posted: Jan 18, 2011 4:50 PM PST ~ please  watch  video ~ http://www.ktiv.com/Global/story.asp?S=13865540

They say poisoning isn't a common practice.

YANKTON, S.D. (KTIV) -- It's happened in places like Louisiana, Arkansas and Kentucky. Hundreds of birds mysteriously found dead.

Folks in Yankton, South Dakota, thought they were being added to the list after hundreds of dead birds were found there on Monday.  Turns out the unpleasant feathered discovery has a solid explanation.  They were poisoned.

Some had thought 200 starlings found dead in Yankton's Riverside park had frozen to death. But they were actually poisoned on purpose, by the US Department of Agriculture.

Many of the European Starlings discovered by a passerby, were lying on the ground or frozen in trees. Officials first thought the birds were late to migrate and froze to death during the recent cold spell.

But that theory changed after Yankton police received a phone call from a USDA official who said the birds had been poisoned.

"They say that they had poisoned the birds about ten miles south of Yankton and they were surprised they came to Yankton like they did and died in our park," says Yankton Animal Control Officer Lisa Brasel.

The USDA confirms the story, saying the deaths were part of a large killing at a private feed lot in Nebraska.

They say a local farmer had been having troubles with about 5,000 starlings defecating in his feed meal. Department of Ag officials say because of health concerns for the farmer's animals and staff they decided to kill the birds.

They used a bait laced with the poison DRC-1339. The USDA says the birds ate the bait then flew back to Yankton and died.

"We're doing it to address, in this case, agricultural damage as well as the potential for human health and safety issues," says Carol Bannerman USDA Wildlife Services.

USDA officials say they regret they had to kill the birds. But say there's no toxic concern to people or animals.

In all, officials estimate nearly 2,000 birds ate the poison. However, since the bait has been removed they don't expect any more birds to die.

Global Weather Modification Assault Causing Climate Chaos
And Environmental Catastrophe

By
Dane Wigington
geoengineeringwatch.org

What Major Factor Causing “Climate Change” Are They Not Telling Us About?

More alarming articles and studies are surfacing each day which confirm the rapidly changing state of Earth’s life support systems and climate. Humanity has decimated the planet and the chickens are coming home to roost. Though there are certainly many parts to this unfolding story, the largest piece of the puzzle by far still goes completely unacknowledged by most of the scientific community and all of the main stream media/corporate/military/industrial complex. The massive elephant in the room has been, and still is, “stratospheric aerosol geoengineering” or “SAG”, AKA “chemtrails”.

What Is Stratospheric Aerosol Geoengineering And Why Is It So Dangerous?

Stratospheric aerosol geoengineering is a primary term for the ongoing global climate modification programs being conducted by major powers around the world. “Aerosols” is simply a term for a microscopic particle that is suspended in the air. The major component of the geoengineering programs is to saturate the atmosphere by spraying millions of tons of 10 nanometer (a nanometer is 1/1,000,000,000 of a meter) toxic metal particles (aerosols) from jet aircraft. Why? Based on available data, there are a number of known objectives, though it is very likely much of the agenda associated with these programs can only be speculated on.

Many geoengineering patents have a stated goal of slowing global warming.

Aluminum/alumina, among other toxic metals, is showing up in countless rain tests around the world. The amount of aluminum, barium, and other metals in these rain/snow tests is always high and often completely off the charts. Snow tests from Mt Shasta in Northern California were toxic beyond belief. This area of the Pacific Northwest was thought to be a pristine water source. Dozens of rain samples taken in this region from numerous individuals were tested at the State certified lab in Northern California and showed shocking results without exception. Former US Forest Service Biologist Francis Mangles has confirmed the alarming heavy metal contamination with his own testing. Snow tests taken from the side of Mt. Shasta showed aluminum content as high as 61,000 PPB. (parts per billion). This level of aluminum in the snow is tens of thousands of times anything that might be considered “normal background” contamination.

Levels this high can only be considered highly toxic. Since these toxic metals are in the snow, they can only come from the air. Aluminum/alumina in “free form” does not naturally exist in the environment but is always bonded to other elements. So where is it coming from?    Aluminum is the primary element named in numerous geoengineering patents. The same patents that describe dispersing this aluminum from jets for the expressed purpose of blocking the sun which is exactly what we see aircraft “trails” doing in our skies day in and day out.

It is important to remember this contamination is not local, but global in scope. Movements have formed in countries all over the world which are desperately trying to address this dire issue.

Shrinking Atmosphere, Disturbed Hydrological Cycle, Fungal Proliferation and Species Extinction

Ozone layer damage is yet another known consequence of geoengineering the atmosphere. Other recent studies now note a “shrinking atmosphere” which is very possibly also linked to the ongoing geoengineering programs.

The “hydrological cycle” of the planet is being completely disrupted by the geoengineering aerosol saturation of the atmosphere. Fungal proliferation is yet another inevitable crisis when the atmosphere is filled with particulates, soils are contaminated with the geoengineering fallout, and waters are polluted with the same. Already, countless species are feeling the effects. The current “species extinction rate” should be absolutely shocking to all. At the present time the “extinction rate” is from 1000 to 10,000 times “natural variability”. This is from 100,000% to 1,000,000% of “normal background rates”. Though main stream media would never discuss this, we are currently in the sixth mass extinction on planet Earth. Is geoengineering responsible for all of this? Of course not all, but if the available science and data is considered, geoengineering is likely by far the single  most significant cause of environmental and climate devastation.

If all available information is considered, geoengineering appears to be the greatest and most immediate threat to all life on Earth short of nuclear catastrophe.

Less Rain, Less Wind, Less Sun, Welcome To Geoengineering

Aerosol Saturated Skies – The New Norm

Though rain and snow is falling in areas of North America, at times in a deluge or “blizzard”, the droughts in the continental US ( and many other regions around the globe), are getting worse. There are now often massive areas of drifting cloud cover spanning thousands of miles over land masses and oceans with very little precipitation. Why is this? Why are the skies so often completely featureless as these expansive cloud banks and upper level “haze” drift across the globe? If individual clouds can be recognized in these “drifting masses”, they often appear “melted into” the upper story of geoengineering “haze”. Why is the wind often diminished under these featureless canopies? Horizon to horizon geoengineering trails are not the only sign of spraying. Clouds should be “white” and the sky “blue”. Wispy, dingy, cob web like upper level “clouds” are are not natural and another hallmark of spraying, as are “silvery white” skies.

The Geoengineering Connection

Atmospheric aerosol saturation diminishes wind and precipitation. The conditions described above are known consequences of stratospheric aerosol geoengineering (SAG) and solar radiation management (SRM) . All available science data confirms the effect of geoengineering particulates on rainfall. Though main stream science sources are still not willing to openly admit to the fact that geoengineering programs have been fully deployed for decades, a growing mountain of evidence makes this fact all too clear. The ongoing stratospheric geoengineering programs are greatly reducing overall rainfall and all but eliminating deep blue skies. Blocking the sun with reflective geoengineering aerosols reduces evaporation. Wind is reduced significantly from atmospheric aerosol saturation as the particles scatter solar energy and thus reduce convection from the ground that would otherwise occur from daytime heating. The slowing of the wind reduces evaporation even more. Further, precipitation cells that do form are often dispersed and diminished from the excessive amount of geoengineering particulates. This causes too many “condensation nuclei” and the droplets do not combine and fall as rain but migrate on.

It is important to remember that there are ALWAYS exceptions to the geoengineering consequences outlined in scientific study. There are simply far too many variables in the extremely complex climate system. Colliding air masses, strong weather fronts, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc., are all among such variables that can still produce devastating and destructive winds and rains even with extensive geoengineering.

Global Dimming, The Loss Of Blue Skies

There is a mountain of scientific data to confirm the reality of “global dimming’. Most have never even heard the term much less noticed the effect over recent decades. Though articles from main stream publications admit to the “global dimming” issue, most understate the percentage of dimming and all point the finger at “pollution particulates” as the sole cause. Countless jet aircraft which criss-cross our skies daily, dispersing millions of tons of toxic metal and chemical particulates, are completely ignored by all main stream media journalists and sources.

To date main stream media has done its best to avoid even mentioning the subject of geoengineering much less admitting to these ongoing programs of total planetary devastation. The overall ramifications from global dimming and geoengineering cannot be accurately quantified. Loss of photo synthesis, destruction of the ozone layer, reduction in global rainfall, loss of blue sky, toxification of soils and waters, these are only a few of the known consequences of the global atmospheric spraying

Greatly Diminished Atmospheric Protection From The Sun

What does this imply? As already documented above, saturating the atmosphere with particulates shreds the protective layers of the atmosphere, namely the ozone layer. Particulate saturation in the upper atmosphere causes a chemical reaction which does the damage. There is now a massive Northern hemisphere ozone hole in addition to the Southern Hemisphere hole we have all heard about for decades. Stratospheric aerosol geoengineering is in all likelihood the primary cause of the global ozone depletion, not just “CFC’s” as we have been told.  Again, this has already been cited above and can be easily researched. Search “geoengineering damages ozone layer”. All available science makes this point clear. Without the ozone layer, life in any form would likely not exist on our planet.

There is yet one more issue related to the destruction of our natural protection from the sun’s usual radiation output: protection from solar flares. Coronal mass ejections or “CME’s” can and will do horrific damage to our planet and most especially human infrastructure. If electricity grids are shut down due to a strong CME, the potential dangers are sobering indeed. With no grid power to cool nuclear power facilities for an extended time, we could face Fukushima x 100, or 200, or?. Without cooling, meltdowns would eventually occur. Just one major nuclear catastrophe could exterminate life on the planet, let alone dozens or hundreds of them. Geoengineering is destroying our natural protection from such an event caused by a strong coronal mass ejection.

Wind Pattern Changes And Catastrophic Methane Release

Wind current pattern changes in turn trigger ocean current changes. Most are completely unaware of the wind and ocean current changes occurring around the globe. Even fewer are aware of the ramifications which are already unfolding from these changes.

Ocean current changes are already delivering warmer waters to regions with vast undersea methane deposits. These deposits are known as “methane hydrate” deposits and literally hold life on earth in the balance. Many regions around the globe are beginning to expel methane from hydrate and clathrate deposits. The East Siberian Shelf of the Arctic is already releasing en masse. All available data indicates that this event alone is changing our biosphere by the day. Though groups of scientists like the “Arctic Methane Emergency Group”  (AMEG) are calling for “emergency wartime scale geoengineering to avert planetary catastrophe”, available data indicates that the very geoengineering programs they are selling as a cure, are more likely a major causal factor in triggering the methane catastrophe in the first place. The fully deployed planetary geoengineering programs have been altering wind and rain patterns at an ever increasing level for decades. Again, it is these alterations that have likely been a major factor in the triggering of mass methane release due to the altered ocean currents and altered hydrological cycles from the ongoing geoengineering programs.

Saturation of the atmosphere with methane is equivalent to covering the planet with a sheet of glass. The sun’s thermal energy gets in, but does not get out. Though most articles on methane release state methane to be 20 times more potent a greenhouse gas than Co2, this is over a 100 year time horizon. Over a ten year time horizon, methane is at least 100 times more potent. In addition to the atmospheric damage caused by the methane release, there is also ocean acidification. As the methane migrates from the sea floor to the surface, much is dissolved into the water. Oceans are currently acidifying at an extremely alarming rate. Again, the consequences of methane release alone threatens all life on Earth.

No “Natural” Weather

The global geoengineering/weather modification/chemtrail programs have likely been going on for over six decades. Recently found documents from the NASA archives indicate that these programs already had budgets into the hundreds of millions of dollars even by the mid 1960′s. These already massive climate altering programs were radically ramped up in the last 15 years. Though most of us alive today have perhaps known little truly “natural” weather, what we are experiencing today is anything but natural. The climate now “swings” radically from one extreme to another. It is now common to have spring like temperatures one day and snow (likely artificially nucleated) the next. These “swings” or “fluctuations” are getting ever more severe.

Manipulation Of The Jet Stream And The Shredding Of The Atmosphere

Is this really possible? Available science as well as observed weather events and jet stream “anomalies” say absolutely yes.

HAARP is the acronym for a massively powerful “ionosphere heater” facility located in Alaska. This is a huge and extremely powerful antenna array which is capable of transmitting as much as a billion watts of power into the ionosphere. The effect of this is to create a ‘bulge” in the atmosphere which in turn can alter the course of the jet stream. Such alterations can in turn “steer” weather systems. By such manipulation, storm fronts can be combined and worsened into “frankenstorms”, or broken apart and dispersed.

There are thought to be at least 18 of these “ionosphere heaters” around the globe, some held by China and Russia. It has also become evident in recent years that “weather warfare” is already a lethal global reality. The potential of these frequency transmitter facilities is enhanced by the spraying of our skies. The saturation of the atmosphere with metal particulates makes the atmosphere more “conductive”. This in turn increases the capabilities of the ionosphere heaters.

Dry Lightning And Out Of Control Forest Fires

An atmosphere that is more conductive from metal particulate saturation can produce more frequent lightning. These same particulates also have the net effect of “diminishing and dispersing” rain. Forests around the globe are now filled with dead and dying trees (referenced later in this article). In addition, the foliage of trees are now covered with what amounts to an “incendiary” dust from the geoengineering particulates. Add the shredded ozone layer which creates more heat, and the “weather modified” conditions are even worse. The obvious result is more frequent and catastrophic forest fires. This phenomenon is being played out around the globe. Summer of 2012 saw the Northern Hemisphere burning down and now it is Australia and Tasmania in meltdown.

Artificially Nucleated Snow Storms

Yet another seemingly impossible aspect of global weather modification is geoengineered snow storms.

Many will write this one off as impossible without any investigation. That is a mistake as the science of chemical ice nucleation is very established and commonly practiced in many arenas though it is hard to comprehend this process being done on such a massive scale.

There are several patents on “artificial ice nucleation for weather modification”, including one from NASA.

Artificially nucleated storms appear to be carried out under a myriad of conditions. In many cases, storms that should have yielded only rain, can be artificially nucleated to “change over” to snow. The term “change over” has recently been coined by The Weather Channel and other corporate/military/industrial complex weather agencies. A geoengineered snow event is generally called “heavy wet snow” (another recent term). This “snow” can begin to fall at temperatures far above freezing though the ongoing chemical process eventually cools the surrounding air mass. The resulting “snow” and “ice” can sometimes remain a surprisingly long time in spite of warmer temperatures, a result of artificial chemical nucleation. This aspect of weather modification is covered in the following article, “Geoengineered Snow Storms Wreaking Havoc Around the Globe”.

Temporary Cooling At The Cost Of A Worsened Overall Warming

This is the net result of geoengineering. Nature does not give something for nothing. This should seem all too obvious, but unfortunately the “scientists” in so many cases seem to be completely blind to the facts. In the case of cloud seeding to produce rain, if they succeed, then that moisture will not end up where it would have otherwise gone. In the case of saturation spraying that is known to diminish rain by scattering it into massive artificial cloud cover, where will all that moisture end up? Coming down somewhere else in a deluge? Is this perhaps why the US is locked in record drought and England is having record rains?

The cooling effects of geoengineering come at the cost of a much worsened overall warming of the planet. Even NASA admits the “condensation trails” (geoengineering particulate trails) are warming the planet.

The Systemic Poisoning Of All Life On Earth

Sound like an “alarmist” statement or conspiracy theory? All available data points to this conclusion as a hard and undeniable fact for any that do objective research.

Countless lab tests of precipitation from around the globe (cited above) have been done by concerned individuals and groups in recent years, and the results are shocking to say the least. Our rain and snow is quite literally packed with the very same highly toxic heavy metals named in numerous geoengineering patents as primary elements. The air we breath is also laden with the same toxins aluminum/alumina, barium, strontium, manganese, thorium,  and now even fluoride is being reported in recent tests from Norway. So much metal has fallen on the boreal forests of the Pacific Northwest that soil PH changes of up to 15 times more alkaline have been noted. A recent documentary film by filmmaker Michael Murphy, “Why In The World Are They Spraying” covers some of these changes and the forest die off that is occurring in boreal forests. Though there are countless articles documenting the die off of forests around the globe, putting the blame only on increasing temperatures, drought, and beetles, none mention geoengineering. To omit geoengineering in this equation is to omit what appears to be the greatest factor of all. The lethal effects of “bioavailable” aluminum/alumina in rainwater and thus in the soils is well documented. Its effect on trees is also noted in science studies.

Of course there are corporations who exist to profit from calamity. Monsanto always seems to be at the top of this list. As geoengineered drought and aluminum sterilized soils force independent farmers to sell, international ag corporations are there to buy up the land and put to use their “aluminum resistant seeds.”

What Is Geoengineering Doing To Us?

Inhalation of microscopic particulates is highly damaging no matter what the particulate material. Respiratory ailments and mortalities are now literally epidemic. Degenerative human diseases that are linked to heavy metal exposure are even more lethal and are now going virtually off the charts. ADD, Alzheimer’s, Autism, ALL, immune disfunction, and many other diseases associated with heavy metals, have all skyrocketed in recent years. According to scientists like internationally know neuroscientist Russell Blalock, the heavy metal nano particles are so small that they pass right through the lung lining into the blood stream. There they can adhere to cell receptors like a plaque, slowly but surely shutting down bodily functions and the immune system. These metals are all but impossible to remove once they have become lodged in the body. In addition, virtually every bite we eat is now contaminated with these toxic nano particles as they are absorbed by plant life, which is highly damaging to crops.

Stratospheric aerosol geoengineering (AKA chemtrails) has now tainted all. Every breath we take, every bite we eat, all is contaminated. A mountain of data, studies, and testing confirms this conclusion beyond reasonable doubt.

We are all quite literally under assault. The threat to all life on earth from the global weather modification programs cannot be overstated. It is up to all of us to help in the task of bringing these programs to light, and to a halt so the planet can begin to recover. Arm yourself with copies of credible articles, data, and DVD copies.  “Why In The World Are They Spraying” by Michael Murphy is an excellent tool for spreading the word on this most dire issue.

It is likely the vast majority of military and private sector people involved with geoengineering do not understand the consequences.

Time is not on our side. Every day global geoengineering continues, our odds are diminished. We must all pull together in the effort to shine the light on this greatest of all human crimes. Once the geoengineering issue is truly out in the open, and those who physically carry out the spraying realize what they are a part of, we have a chance to stop these lethal programs.

Global Weather Modification Assault Causing Climate Chaos
And Environmental Catastrophe

Around Christmas the local sky showed a similarly spectacular chemtrail contrail array.  Read some of http://contrailscience.com/how-to-debunk-chemtrails/ which made some points but not entirely convincing.

I’ve collected together a few photos of persistent spreading contrails from the past from 1991 back to 1940, just to show that this is nothing new, and that skies exactly like those shown on the “chemtrails” conspiracy web sites have been happening for the past 60 years. Mostly these are just photos I found on the internet, but several, like the first four, are scanned from books, so can be physically verified.

It looks to me like your Larouche either does not know the difference between Chemtrails or Contrails, or he is just another tool.

The contrailscience.com site is not affiliated with LaRouche.  FWIW LaRouche advocates a massive expansion to the rail system esp with maglev passenger trains for medium-distance travel that would cut back on jet pollution.  Contrailscience.com says upper-level humidity causes trails & that upper-level weather can vary much in those areas & also vary much from lower-level conditions.  OTOH that site apparently doesn't offer specific data correlating their contrail photos with actual humidity measurements.  Also contrailscience.com claims that modern jet engines produce more "contrails" precisely because they're more efficient, ie more of the fuel is combusted so more converts to water vapor.  That assertion seems dubious since old engines would theoretically need same amount of power to create a given thrust (ie same amount of fuel would be combusted though more would be wasted).

Contrailscience.com also points out large increase in air travel & claims that as a major reason why we see more trails.  Again I'm dubious; yes much more air travel now but I've always lived near airports & never noticed numerous chem-type (lower altitude & lingering) trails in the old days.  My former Air Force navigator dad explained contrails as the high-altitude quickly-dissipating thing.

EB. Please do NOT confuse chemtrails with contrails. These are most definitely NOT contrails. Contrails do NOT linger for any length of time, they dissipate in moments.

Watching the Chemtrails, you can see the little clouds forming (also known as cloud seeding) and watch them grow bigger in a few minutes.

This is not a busy flight path here, were we live. I live in the country, 4 KM away from the Village. (No airport) in fact, I am watching one right now as I write.

Read Arthur's article:

I write "chemtrails contrails" to mock Establishment's reluctance to address the issue, not to indicate that I believe they're actually contrails.  I read Topham's article--I suppose the book has more details about why they aren't contrails.  Previously I watched a goodly portion of the "What in the World" video which was interesting.  Perhaps I missed something but IIRC it basically claims contrails are the high-altitude dissipating thing & the lower spreading trails are chem & basically leaves it at that.  (Brings up my pet peeve of lengthy videos being impossible to text-search.)

However contrailscience.com (supposedly run by aviation experts) directly addresses some of the chemtrailer points--I'm wondering if any website rebuts contrailscience.com point by point?

You will have to do some research.

I cannot answer that because I am convinced that the Chemtrails we see are real. They fly at a much lower altitude, and you can literally watch the little white clouds form.

For Long distance passenger flights to anywhere from 33,000 feet to 46,000 feet, for shorter flights, (ex. Los Angeles to Texas or Miami) they usually fly 32-38 thousand feet from what I've experienced.

There is no comparison.

If I find any pertinent info I'll post.  My personal anecdotal experience is shaded (surely as with many others) by simply not have been paying much attention to the issue before chemtrailers emphasized it.  Actually it wasn't until 9/11 that I thought much about it:  on another forum I posted (a few days after) about how the sky looked so clear when jet travel was halted.  So I was aware that there was a large amount of trails & haze but hadn't had reason to assume they were chem or not.  My anecdotal evidence also clouded by fact that DC area used to be more overcast in warmer months (now with huge amount of local paved area) the sky is clearer & chemtrails are more obvious.
