Greek govt threatens to arrest teachers over strike

Athens has threatened to arrest high school teachers if they carry out a strike this week, in a move seen as reassurance to Greece’s foreign bailout creditors that the country will not abandon its harsh austerity measures and unpopular reforms.

The announcement marks the third time this year that the Greek government has invoked emergency laws to force strikers to return to work.

Greece is due to receive €7.5 billion in loans soon, the latest tranche of a €240-billion rescue package signed in 2010; Athens currently has no money to pay pensions and wages. To cope with the personnel gaps, Athens plans to require two additional hours of work each week from high school teachers, and plans to transfer 4,000 of them to remote regions of the country.

The government broke a longstanding taboo last month by agreeing to dismiss some 15,000 public-sector workers by the end of 2014, a key demand by the EU and International Monetary Fund for Greece to qualify for further rescue loans, Reuters reported.

According to OLME, the union representing the teachers, about 10,000 part-time teachers could be dismissed once their temporary contracts expire. The union has called for a 24-hour strike when university exams start on May 17.

However, under Greek law the government has the right to forcibly mobilize workers in the event of a civil disorder, natural disaster or public health risk.

“This is a very authoritarian move from the government because it has issued civil mobilization orders for secondary education teachers in the public school system even before they decided to stage a strike during the university entry exams. Geek law is very explicit that civil mobilization refers to wars and natural disasters, not forms of civil protest,” Panagiotis Sotiris, sociology lecturer at the University of the Aegean, told RT.

“It’s really interesting to see that one of the legal experts, who has insisted for many years on the unconstitutionality of these emergency laws, is no other than the current Minister of Justice in the Greek government, Mr Antonis Roupakiotis,” he said.

Education Minister Constantine Arvanitopoulos justified the ban by arguing that students had a right to take exams without disruption; teachers will be served a civil mobilization order to go to work on that day, or risk arrest.

“These threats by the prime minister and his government are directly against the overwhelming majority of workers and society,” Greece’s Syriza party, which opposes the bailout, said in a statement.

The Greek government has in recent months intervened frequently to shut down mounting anti-austerity strikes. Earlier this year, it interrupted week-long walkouts by local sailors that led to food shortages on Greece’s islands, and strikes by metro workers that disrupted transport in Athens.

public education system due to the government's austerity measures (AFP Photo)

“The Greek government tries to meet the nominal terms of the bailout agreements in terms of budget cuts, reducing public investment of preparing lay off of thousands of public servants and public-sector workers of making extremely dangerous decisions, for example, there  is no money currently for HIV tests for blood samples. The Greek government puts all the cost on Greek society in order to remain within the terms of the bailout agreements,” professor Sotiris told RT.

The Greek economy has been struggling to gain traction amid the austerity measures mandated in country’s bailout terms. Deep spending cuts and tax hikes have reduced Greece's budget deficit, but have also left the country stuck in recession, now in its sixth year.

Last year, the financial crisis reached boiling point: It was feared that Greece would be forced to abandon the Euro currency used by 17 European Union nations, sparking a chain reaction in financial markets and further aggravating the eurozone debt crisis.

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), over the last three years Greece has nonetheless made progress in bringing down its budget deficit, austerity has nearly tripled Greece's jobless rate since its debt crisis began in 2009.

Greek unemployment is said to be more than twice the Eurozone average, with overall joblessness at a record high of 27 percent. Athens cut the minimum monthly wage for those under 25 years old by 32 percent to about 500 euros in a bid to boost hiring, but joblessness in the 15-to-24 age bracket recently soared from 59.3 percent in January to 64.2 percent in February.

Medical patients at risk in crisis-stricken Greece

Morale has been particularly hard-hit in the crisis: The number of Greeks who attempted suicide has been on the rise in recent years. There were 677 suicide attempts in 2009, 830 in 2010 and 927 in 2011, according to official figures.

A number of Greek pharmacists have also faced serious medicine shortages due to price controls and tight cash flows. “We are in a critical situation and we don’t know what’s going to happen even the next day,” pharmacist Dionysis Evgenidis told RT.

Greeks in need often visit the Doctors of the World charity in Thessaloniki. RT’s Tom Barton spoke to patients who said they fear for their future. “I went to the pharmacy to buy injections for my baby but couldn’t find any so now that I’m unemployed I came here,” one desperate mother said.

The highest risks are for those with serious health conditions like diabetes or cardiologic problems, who must receive treatment every day. “It’s very serious for them not to have their medicine. If they do not they could die,” Sofia Gorane, from Doctors of the World told RT.

The WPost isn't as disturbed anymore since it was shown the shout came from one of theirs.

Disturbing video: Greek member of parliament shouts ‘heil Hitler’ during session

By Max Fisher, Published: May 17, 2013 at 10:33 amE-mail the writer

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2013/05/17/disturbing-video-greek-member-of-parliament-shouts-heil-hitler-during-session/

At first it’s tough to make out through the shouting, but, about 36 seconds into the above video from a session of parliament in Greece, the words come through loud and clear: “Heil Hitler.”

A Greek member of Parliament, from the far-right party Golden Dawn, shouted the Nazi slogan after an argument on the parliament floor, according to the International Business Times and a local outlet called the Greek Reporter. The sources disagree as to whether the Golden Dawn official who shouted it was Panayiotis Iliopoulos or Christos Pappas.

Here’s what’s thought to have happened: Iliopoulos, who had recently assaulted some immigrant vendors at an Athens port, got into an argument with members of Greece’s far-left Syriza party, whom he called “goats” and “filthy, scurrilous” people.

The parliament’s acting speaker, also a member of Syriza, asked Iliopoulos to leave. “Go away before we send you away,” he said, according to the Greek Reporter. As a scrum of Golden Dawn lawmakers filed out of the room, shouting angrily on the way out, “Heil Hitler” is audible at three different moments.

It’s not clear from the video if the three repetitions came from Iliopoulos or from another Golden Dawn member such as Pappas, a spokesman who was with the group at the time. But it is yet another worrying sign about the rise of extremist political movements in this troubled country. Sometimes Golden Dawn is referred to as a far-right party and, less frequently, a neo-Nazi movement. It’s a fuzzy distinction, but maybe it just got a little bit less fuzzy.

Check your facts. The "Heil Hitler" was said by George Panzas, a SYRIZA MP. The Golden dawn MP was thrown out of the assembly for poking fun at the head of the communist/anarchist SYRIZA.

For the true story and other news about Golden dawn read.
http://golden-dawn-international-newsroom.blogspot...

This story as all stories from multicultural media is a lie and a smear, multiculturalist are the nazists of our time, no white people anywhere can do anything for their own people without being called nazist by anti-white multiculturalist, these multiculturalist ironically support the fascist anti-white racist totalitarian dictatorship of EU, and support racial discrimination against whites(affirmative action), as well as ethnic cleansing and population replacement by mass-immigration.

But by now I think most people, even the most ignorant, are well aware that leftist are lying racist themselves, and when they accuse all white people of being racist, it is just to hide their own extreme bigotry.

For those who can read Greece the transcripit of this lie can be read here. It is actually a leftist screaming Heil Hitler to mock Golden dawn. Golden dawn btw reject nazism.

Actually the chairman turned off the microphone, banning the argument of the low chamber deputy. That's what heated the debate.
Is that freedom of expression?
Who is worst, the extremist Nazi or the neoliberal dictator?

That is horrifying - I know the main focus of the "Golden Dawn" is immigration. One would figure these radicals would be hanging Jews from lamp posts (fiscal crisis), but I guess the movement blames Muslims for wrecking the economy. My greek cousin, Sossi Gold, says the Golden Dawn is like Frank Collins or David Dukestein (Jew funded)

The jew who said “Heil Hitler", along with the jews broadcasting the message throughout the world media, may be trying to deceive, but technically did not lie.

Golden Dawn’s first Internet broadcast presented by MP and spokesman of the Greek far-right political party Golden Dawn, Ilias Kasidiaris, was deleted.

The broadcasting was aired online, but then the video was deleted from the site due to “non-compliance with the local law.”

Golden Dawn said in its announcement, “The absolute exclusion of the Nationalist Movement unfortunately continues also on the Internet. What else will the international system think of to curb our rapid rise?”

“Despite the exclusion of our first broadcast by Youtube in dozens of countries, the program managed to be aired.  Golden Down’s web television will continue to broadcast through another site.”

As the party announced, they will broadcast on June 24 at 22:00 through another website.

Greece is getting closer to martial law everyday. The politicians are losing control.

IMF Loan Sharks to Samaras: “Forget about elections and continue to sell off the country.”

Posted by xaameriki on June 21, 2013
http://xaameriki.wordpress.com/

While the journalists in Greece create dramatic scenarios of what Greek politicians will decide for the country, the real decisions in reality are coming from outside of Greece.

Now that the threat of possible elections has been looming, the IMF lapdog politicians working in Greece have displeased their masters, and so now the masters are stepping in. Finance Minister Stournaras has been ordered to give a detailed report to them.

Brussels has given its orders: Continue the plan as was directed for the so called “reforms”.  The word “reforms” of course being a codeword for giving them complete and total access to Greek resources.  These “reforms” have already killed 4500 of our countrymen, with millions more destitute and impoverished as a result.  The false promises of Samaras that there will be a “recovery” is nothing but a pipe dream, especially in the eyes of the young.

Brussels has “elegantly” and “gently” suggested to the puppet government in Greece “If you have early elections, the next installment of the bailout package money will not be given.”  This threat given to the puppet government in Greece about discontinuing funding of course has a more serious reason, the reason that makes all the speculators from New York to Brussels tremble.

There are in fact still gullible fools, who believe Alexis Tsipras of Syriza will save them and get them out of the crisis.  These fools however, either ignore or are unaware of the fact that Tsipras has already made negotiations upon his visit to the US Department of State, the New York speculators and the like.

Tsipras has basically become the poster boy for the Americans, as Samaras is for Merkel.  Tsipras is simply intending to do a refinance of the debt and as a result, both Tsipras and Samaras both lead to the same plan of destroying the Greek national economy and autonomy.  One will do it in the American style, and one will do it in the European style, the end result is the same.

The real threat that has the speculators trembling, the threat that has both the puppets and masters in fear, is none other than the people’s nationalist movement, Golden Dawn! A gigantic cross section of the Greek public has gotten wise to this falacy of a system, they no longer believe the deceptions of the newspapers and television.  This more than anything is what has all the foreigners shaken with fear.  The people understand that Golden Dawn is the only hope for a true national resistance and no one else!

We will not compromise, we will not stop.  We will fight until the end! We are the true voice of the Hellenic people and we are determined to take our country back from these vultures and bring in a new era of national liberation.

Golden Dawn, until the final victory!

Yes indeed, what would be the use of calling for elections if you can't fix them your way.

GOLDEN DAWN NOW THE SECOND LARGEST PARTY!!! The shocked loan sharks and political establishment tremble in fear!

http://xaameriki.wordpress.com/

Panic is spreading across the political system, Samaras, Venizelos and Kouvelis tremble to even speak about elections.  Even Alexis Tsipras, the golden boy of SYRIZA while giving a speech about the Greek constitution, didn’t dare to use the word “election”, not even once.  What has happened to them?  Just yesterday they could not stop talking about it, so today why does the cat have their tongues?

No, it’s not the cat that has their tongues, its the latest election polls that just came in! After the latest fiasco over the shut down of public television station ERT, every single poll shows the Golden Dawn rising and the other parties declining. Specifically, Golden Dawn has now passed up SYRIZA which is losing votes, and this party claims it
can not be in a coalition with Nea Demokratia and PASOK: the party on the verge of collapse.

These developments are not only causing panic with the internal enemies of Greece, also the external ones of the Troika (IMF, World Bank, EU).  German leader, Angela Merkel and the International loan sharks warn Samaras “Be careful, don’t lose control!” warning them about the rise of Golden Dawn. One thing to note:  Alexis Tsipras of SYRIZA is no longer mentioned by them as a threat, in fact his name has not come up for months!  Tsipras was supposed to be the danger to the creditors, the tough-guy who was supposed to “tear up the memorandum”.  The loan sharks have no concern about him, but they certainly have a concern about us.

It will be interesting, VERY interesting to see the anti-Golden Dawn international news media try to make headlines like “NO TO ELECTIONS IN GREECE” now that the democracy they love to talk so much about no longer is working according to their plans. Here is a quote  that was translated from parapolitika.gr, a website extremely hostile to Golden Dawn:

“All the parties since the crisis over TV station ERT, have ordered secret polls to gauge public opinion and the impact it had over the issue of public broadcasting. The findings, conducted by telephone surveys is revealing the Golden Dawn to be a major problem. The findings showed Golden Dawn neck and neck with SYRIZA and some showed it in 2nd place, and this would make elections prohibitive, since in such case a government would be impossible.”

Did you get that part? They hinted even at prohibiting elections until they can figure out how to deal with this “Major Problem” suddenly there is no speeches about democracy and the will of the Greek people anymore.

This is completely valid and the panic is indeed real, polls conducted by foreign embassies know that Golden Dawn’s support is somewhere around 18% or more.

Far-left leader stands trial in Golden Dawn lawsuit

Far-left leader stands trial in Golden Dawn lawsuit

Savvas Michael-Matsas believes he's being targetted because he's Jewish

Updated At: 14:21 Tuesday 3 September 2013
http://www.enetenglish.gr/?i=news.en.politics&id=1441

Background to the trial against Savvas Michael-Matsas, the general secretary of the tiny Revolutionary Workers' Party (EEK), is a slogan - 'The people don't forget, they hang fascists' - that appeared in a party announcement for an antifascist protest in May 2009

Golden Dawn members chant the national anthem in front of the parliament (File photo: AFP) Golden Dawn members chant the national anthem in front of the parliament (File photo: AFP) The leader of a small far-left party went on trial on Tuesday, charged with "libellous defamation", "incitement to violence and civil discord" and "disturbing the public peace" after Golden Dawn members and supporters brought a case against him.

The background to the trial against Savvas Michael-Matsas, the general secretary of the tiny Revolutionary Workers' Party (EEK), is a slogan - "The people don't forget, they hang fascists" - that appeared in a party announcement for an antifascist protest in May 2009.

A Trotskyist party founded in 1985, in the last elections it contested (May 2012), the EEK garnered a minuscule 6,095 votes, or about 0.10% of the total, a result dwarfed by the 440,966 votes (a 6.97% share) obtained by Golden Dawn.

A considerable number of people were named in the lawsuit, but apart from Michael-Matsas, only one other person is being brought before a court. Konstantinos Moutzouris, a former rector of the National Technical University of Athens, or Athens Polytechnic, also stands accused of allowing the radical website Athens Indymedia to use the university's server.

Moutzouris has already been cleared of such charges twice. It is not clear what prompted prosecutors to bring the cases to court.

Writing in Monday's Guardian, journalist Maria Margaronis, who describes herself as a friend of Michael-Matsas, said the "progress of the trial thus far raises questions about whether, and if so to what extent, the authorities are colluding with the neo-Nazis [of Golden Dawn]".

She said that one of the signatories to the lawsuit, former Golden Dawn election candidate Themis Skordeli, was charged with stabbing an Afghan man in September 2011. Her trial has been postponed eight times.

Margaronis also states that Michael-Matsas has been targeted by Golden Dawn – an openly antisemitic party – because he is Jewish.

Margaronis wrote: "But picking out the Jew to be the first to walk the plank is sleazy beyond belief, a cheap sop to the fascist gallery. As one of the few Jewish public intellectuals in Greece, Savvas has long been targeted by neo-Nazi websites, with slogans like 'Crush the Jewish worm' and claims that he can be found lurking under every stone, fomenting civil war among pure-blooded Greeks in order to establish a Judeo-Bolshevik state. He has also been accused of being both an agent of Iran and a fully paid-up member of the international Zionist conspiracy (in fact he's a fierce anti-Zionist)."

Michael-Matsas, a philosopher, literary critic and Biblical scholar, tends to agree: "I'm the embodiment of every fascist's fantasy. I'm a Jew, a communist – and a heretical communist, a Trotskyist, at that. I don't fit anywhere. The only thing I happen not to be is homosexual," he told Margaronis, who is also the London correspondent for the Nation.

Greeks hold silent protest over violence, fascism

Mon Sep 23, 2013 4:15PM GMT
source: http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2013/09/23/325592/greeks-hold-silent-protest-over-violence/

Greek people dressed in white have staged a silent protest in the capital Athens to condemn the recent surge in violence across the country.

White-draped activists holding placards gathered during the symbolic demonstration on Sunday, marking the latest in a chain of protests against fascism and the murder of a leftist musician last week.

On Saturday, a supporter of Greece’s new-Nazi Golden Dawn Party was charged with manslaughter over the killing of 34-year-old hip-hop singer, Pavlos Fyssas.

George Roupakias, a 45-year-old truck driver, was charged on Saturday with voluntary manslaughter and illegal possession of a weapon as he appeared in court in Piraeus, a port city within the Athens urban area.

The killing sparked outrage among Greeks who have staged several protests against the fascist Golden Dawn Party since the attack took place.

Officials of the far-right party denied any links with the suspect, but pictures soon emerged of Roupakias participating in party activities such as the controversial distribution of food to ethnic Greeks only.

The Greek government has also reacted to the attack with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras saying he would not allow Golden Dawn to “poison” society and “undermine” democracy.

It has appealed to a Supreme Court prosecutor to investigate more than 30 offenses, which the government says are linked to the ultranationalist party.

Golden Dawn holds 18 seats in parliament after being elected in 2012 and has been accused of committing several attacks on migrants and political opponents, such as destroying the market stalls of several immigrant merchants.

The group became Greece’s third most popular party at the height of the financial crisis after winning support, with free food handouts among poor Greeks and its fierce anti-immigrant rhetoric.

Greek govt cracks down on neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party, arrests leader
« Reply #535 on: September 28, 2013, 08:20:31 PM »
Greece--the Jews 1, nationals 0. Obviously the Jews feared the upcoming elections that showed GD would become the #2 party in Greece. This is the best example in our time where the Jew's propaganda in controlling the phony election process has become non-effective. This was a big gamble for the Jews cause anyone who voted for GD will more than likely vote for them again. No net loss of votes. And in the end it might give them even more support even if GD's name is removed from the voting list.

Greek govt cracks down on neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party, arrests leader

Greek police have arrested the leader, several MPs and dozens of members of ultra-right Golden Dawn party on charges of leading a “criminal organization.” The party promised to respond with mass rallies of its supporters.

Greek police issued arrest warrants for Golden Dawn leader Nikos Michaloliakos, party spokesman and MP Ilias Kassidiairis, two other prominent members, at least five other party MPs, as well as number of ordinary party members.

“The Secretary General and one lawmaker of the Golden Dawn Party were arrested a short while ago after arrest warrants were issued,” Greek police informed journalists.

Police have detained about 30 members of the ultra-right party, which won 18 seats in the Greek parliament in the June 2012 elections, having received close to 7 percent of the popular vote.

"Democracy in Greece is strong," Justice Minister Haralambos Athanassiou said after meeting with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias. "All those arrested will have a fair trial,” he said.

In response to the crackdown, the neo-Nazi party called on to its supporters to “resist unlawfulness.”

“We call upon everyone to support our moral and just struggle against the corrupt system,” a statement said on the party’s website.

The ultra-right party faced a public backlash after the Sept. 18 murder of 34-year-old anti-fascist rapper Pavlos Fyssas, who was stabbed to death in Keratsini by George Roupakias, 45, an avowed supporter of Golden Dawn.

In the aftermath of the killing, the government signaled it would take a tough line against the neo-Nazi party.

"This government is determined not to allow the descendants of the Nazis to poison our social life, to commit crimes, terrorize and undermine the foundations of the country that gave birth to democracy," Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said in a televised address a day after the killing.

The man who allegedly murdered the rapper confessed to the killing when detained by police, and volunteered that he had links to Golden Dawn. The party, however, denied any links to the murderer and the killing.

After the killing, an investigation revealed that sympathetic members of Greek law enforcement agencies had helped to train the Golden Dawn party’s paramilitary wing. As a result nine police officers, including two high-ranking officials, were fired while two senior police officials resigned for “personal reasons.”

The murder of the anti-fascist activist sparked mass protests nationwide as people held street protests to express their anger with the murder, clashing with police on Wednesday night.

The anti-fascist mass rallies apparently prompted the Greek government to launch a crackdown on the members of Golden Dawn, reportedly including wiretapping party members.

But Mihaloliakos and other leaders of Golden Dawn appeared to be defiant ahead of their arrest.

“We will exhaust any means within our legal constitutional rights to defend our political honor,” Mihaloliakos told reporters on Thursday.

On Friday, Golden Dawn threatened to pull its 18 MPs out of parliament in protest against the murder accusations, a move that could potentially prompt by-elections in 15 regions of the country and – if the opposition were to win those elections – it could threaten the small majority of the ruling coalition, which currently controls 155 seats in the 300-seat parliament.

A good result for the opposition could mean that the ruling coalition would become politically untenable, The Guardian reported Mihaloliakos as saying Friday.

"Golden Dawn holds a weapon in its hands to cause a political earthquake. Those in charge should bear that well in mind," Mihaloliakos said.

Greece's finance minister downplayed the political risks of arrests of the Golden Dawn party members.

“There is no risk of destabilization," Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras told reporters on Saturday.

On Saturday, the ultranationalists called on their supporters to rally outside the police headquarters in Athens where their leaders were being held.

“Shame on them, the people will lift Golden Dawn higher," Golden Dawn MP Ilias Panagiotaros told reporters shortly before his own arrest.

The Golden Dawn party has expressed open hostility toward left-wing opponents and immigrants in Greece, championing slogans such as “clean up the stench,” and “Greece for the Greeks.” They have pledged to eject all immigrants from Greece and secure Greece’s borders with landmines and armed patrols. The party has also opposed austerity measures introduced in exchange for bailout credits from the EU, IMF and European Central Bank – the so-called “Troika”.

The arrests of Golden Dawn leaders are the largest crackdown against a political party in Greece since the fall of the neo-fascist military junta in 1974.

Yeah, the shooting of that rapper must've been a false flag to trigger this series of events.

Yeah, the shooting of that rapper must've been a false flag to trigger this series of events.

They can't ban a political party openly, but they set up new the intel and police supers in top positions to set up the false flag. The Jew's henchmen are also saying they have audio surveillance evidence that top GD officials ordered the killing of the jew backed rapper.

In the end, GD was enough of a threat they had to be taken in a dirty jew way similar to Zollerman in Germany and Haider in Austria.

Hopefully Golden Dawn's example inspires other nationalist movements throughout Europe, then North America.
